McBurnie In away end

Mcb did nothing wrong wearing daft clothes going out with his mates and singing songs in the away end supporting his ex team mates.

But whether we like it or not he can not act like a normal fan. As a professional footballer he has to follow a code of conduct when he is inside a football stadium whether he is on the pitch or in the stands. The moment he made the obscene gesture to the Cardiff fans he let himself open to a charge of being in breach of that code and bringing the game into disrepute. Harsh but thats how the football authorities operate.

At the same time it gives an opportunity to those who wish to besmirch the good name of SUFC to jump on the bandwagon. Daily Fail couldn't wait to get the story out, we did beat their boys on Friday and McB scored the winner. Others have quickly followed including Sky Sports who are pressing the FA for comment. Funny how Sky Sports hardly ever give us a mention on their daily transfer news programme but get a sniff of controversy and they are all over it. Hopefully not much will come of it and Mcb will be reminded of his responsibilities when out in the Public domain. Unfortunately if a charge and reprimand follow then his card will be marked by both the FA and press as to future conduct.

A clip round the ear from CW and a quiet word from Kevin Cookson Communications Manager should suffice should this go any further but his mates could help by not advertising on social media every time he's out on the town.

Have you seen evidence of this 'obscene gesture'?

Don’t have a problem with him supporting his old club, I think it’s great and shows he cares. But, no need for the wanker signs. He’s in the public spotlight, a professional sportsman getting paid a lot of money and is a role model.

It'd be a fine if anything, but I doubt he would even get that being as he wasn't a player in that game. Not sure where the fa's jurisdiction would be.

He was pictured doing similar in the QPR away end a few months ago and nothing came of that so i cant see anything coming of this tbh.

Is the 'obscene gesture' different to the ambiguous two handed 'come on'/potential wanker sign he's photographed doing. If not, it's very difficult to see the FA having a case unless some video footage has emerged clarifying what the hand signal meant.

Yes, he's clearly advising the home support of the advantages of a Skiing break.

Not commenting on the rights and wrongs of Oli’s actions but I do respect Addison’s views on interpretation on rules and regulations so with that in mind.....

Is it just me who sees a parallel with pig fans denial of the EFL’s right to deal with the pig’s transgressions and some of our fans on here challenging the right of the FA to take a look at Oli’s behaviour?

I think most of us have done the same at some stage of following the Blades, but we don’t work for Blades, are not instantly recognisable by the media looking for a story however minor the incident it is, to us it’s nothing more than banter between fans, but in some minds it builds an impression of McBurnies character, he needs to keep a low profile out if the media for the wrong things till his court case is out if the way.
