Is anyone else a little concerned that this hasn't been settled yet? It's January now, which means that any team outside the English league system can approach him on a pre-contract deal. Now I doubt there would be many teams abroad interested, even though he'd have much to offer despite his slight downturn in form.

(Celtic and Rangers would be the exception possibly, as they could offer European football he could be tempted though it is unlikely)

Alternatively he could wonder if he let it run down he could get taken on by a club like Everton, Fulham (if they go up) with a huge signing on bonus on 60k a week which we can't/won't offer him here.

It's good to see that Besic has started to be integrated into the team in any event, do we have an option to buy from Everton? Would free up a loan space as well. How much would he cost? 4 million as a guess?

With Lundstram I do think it will be sorted out eventually, just a pity it's taken so long

If we are going to make real progress we need better than both of these.

Be that as it may we of course need to keep them for the time being. In an ideal world we'd get an upgrade and our bench would get stronger with him on it, but that would cost north of 20 million unless we find another gem.

If we are not prepared to spend £20 million plus on players (assuming we stay in the prem) then we will not be able to make the progress Wilder's ambitions demand, and I doubt very much he would have signed the new contract if he hadn't received the Prince's committment in this direction.

Who could we sign realistically who would improve our midfield?

Certainly would be very difficult now in January, maybe in the summer seeing where we finish

It's actually good we didn't offer too much whilst his stock was high. Now would be a good time to negotiate with Besic too before he cements his position.

REAL PROGRESS ,,, WHAT FROM 5TH in the Prem

me thinks some want to run before we can walk

but if youve got a spare 100m send it to Wilder

both look good enough for our squad
If you think the current squad is able to maintain 5th position then we will have to disagree. REAL PROGRESS, yes, it's what ambitious clubs do.

Not easy, admitted, but CW/AK will find the answer, with a little help they always do.

yes but its the pace of it

we cant do what man city did buy our way above 5th
we take baby steps by comparison, and your totally dissing what we have achieved with what weve got

we are 5th because of the players your poo poohiing, not in spite of them

would you like to be replaced at your job because someone thinks someone else can do it better

dont you realise your asking us to become aston villa, lets spend 150m , we must be better then

It's probably worth signing Besic, for what I'd imagine wouldn't be more than £2.5m.

It might be £2.5m if his deal was up in the summer. It runs to 2021.

When you consider the amount of cash we spent in the summer on two midfielders new to the Prem, I can’t see us paying anything less than double that for an international with Prem experience that’s only 27.

I wasn't concerned Wilders deal wouldn't be sorted.
I'm not concerned we won't sort Lundstrams deal out

We might well see what Everton want for Mo Besic, Wilder said last week that they have an option to recall him if they have a buyer. So he's probably for sale

What nonsense.
Never dissed.
Never poo poohed
Never asked for the club to go forward at speed.
Never compared us to Villa
You're making things up.
All I have said is that long term we can do better than Lunny and Besic.
For once in my 60+ years of supporting the Blades I sense we could have a real future amongst the elite of English football. To get there we will need ambition at every level, so if that's too much for you to digest then I'm sorry.

I still think it'll be a sensible contract with a minimum fee and relegation release clauses. 🤷‍♂️

The last time he was talked about in transfer rumours last year, the price mentioned was £9m. I suspect the price quoted now would be a bit less – partly because I imagine they didn’t attract bids of that sort, but I wouldn’t have thought it would be too much less given his stock is better today that it would have been performing in a poor Middlesbrough team. Our best hope for a cheaper deal might be to hope no bids come in this window, and revisit in the summer as he enters the last year of his deal. I could definitely see that scenario playing out.

Lunstram is better than besic , one bad performance doesn't change that

We may not gave the money to pay the bigger wages... yet.

This being our first season in PL I would worry about spaffing too much cash (although I’d like a better view on Kop rather than having to move to South Stand 🤓).

Hence the importance of living within our means and sorting out the legacy of lower league football.

But, let’s not underestimate the impact of the shoestring management of CWAK and view it as foundation building. As we become established in PL and enjoy the benefits, the opportunity to invest in players will turn up.

I think it is more than 1 game to be fair. He has looked a bit jaded since at least the Watford game. He may just be feeling the physical pressure of week in week out football which he did not have ;last season. He just seems to be lacking energy & his passing is a bit off.

Ambition within football is normally used to mean wanting to improve the club by financially risking the future rather than building sensibly and patiently. In short trying to jump ahead simply by throwing money at it rather than planing properly with firm foundations.
An approach which rarely works and when it does it eventually falls flat once the investment runs out leaving the club in a financial mess. That is ignoring the 90% which don’t even get the good times, just spend and fail.
Those that build in an organised and properly planned way are always better prepared and able to cope with any blips or changes in fortune.
We need to consolidate our position in the top league, improve the squad year on year, develop our infrastructure (ground, training, performance and medical facilities) and our worldwide brand.
That’ll take at least 5 years and in reality double that but the position we’ll be in then will then be in place to really look to really challenge the better establish and stronger teams in our league.
CWAKs new contact is 5 years, let’s start with that as a timeframe.

There was a rumour talks weren't going well besic is must for me

Still can't imagine there being many clubs desperate for lundstram. We would probably be the only premier league team.

True but hes still lookintg good to me , that turn and cross for mcburnie yesterday i dont think besic could do.

Besic would be a good signing and swapped with lunny now and again but i dont think he can do as much as lunny

Do you trust the representatives that gave Duffy his advice? I’m not sure I do...

His Dad isn't advising Lunny surely? 😉

No, I mean, agents are an unknown quantity but I trust Wilder, Knill, Mitchell and Bettis that they'll try and get it done, and if not, will line something up so it's not to our detriment if it doesn't.
