Haven't seen a thread on this, wondered what people's opinions are. Both promising young English keepers, both have played for the blades (albeit fleetingly for Ramsdale).

Found this link re Ramsdale for those interested:

Seems Wilder reluctantly let him go in order to secure funds, which as without a doubt paid off. Seems such a shame now that we couldn't hang on to him as we'd have a ready made young keeper on our books. That said, you never know how things could turn out had he stayed, potentially could've ended up on loan at Scunny!

Also as a side note, I think Dewhurst is potentially a future no. 1.

I’ve seen hardly anything of either of them so haven’t got a monkeys! You’re lucky though that others on here will know all there is to know about them, and more!

When we’ve done this one can we do Graham Benstead v Andy Leaning?

Henderson?

We've all seen over the past few and a bit seasons, opponents GK playing a blinder at the lane.

We'd finished as low as we ever have in my lifetime hen Wilder came in. First thing he does is sell our two brightest youth players; Ramsdale & Calvert-Lewin, then sells Che Adams too.

This brought in revenue and cut a few wages off the books. He then goes out and signs Jake Wright, Mark Duffy and John Fleck on free transfers. What a genius.

Looked pretty good recently

Think you’re throwing Ramsdale’s sale into that and conflating it with the rest of a what’s otherwise a fair point. Ramsdale wasn’t sold till the end of the January transfer window, at which point the squad had already been rejigged. Now you could argue that the business we did that January (Hanson & O’Shea) had been done on the basis we knew we were selling him, but while Wilder’s always said the Adams/DCL sales helped fund the purchases in the summer I don’t think he’s made the same claim re: Ramsdale. More that it was good money from a Premier League team that he and the player at that point felt they couldn’t turn down.

Either way, it has been reported that Kean is going to Charlton with a buy back clause. If Ramsdale had the same thing (I don't know) we could get him back next season if Hendo is off back to Manure. Even if that is not the case, should Bournemouth be relegated I would hope we would bid for him, should we stay up.

Surely a buy back clause wouldn't work when selling a player to a team above you? It would basically be Bournemouth saying "look we'll give you money for him now whilst you're rubbish but if you ever improve and get to our level then you can weaken us by having him back if you want?"

We have held talks with his agent. No buy back clause.

With Hendo we’re always gonna be in a tug o war with Man Utd over his services. I really don’t think he’ll be coming back in the summer......Unless the Mancs don’t want him of course.
Trouble is I reckon Hendos eyes are full of stardust now and I think he can see a way in at Old Trafford, now DeGea seems to be floundering a bit.
Think we need a top flight keeper who actually belongs to us.

I've already told a Carrier Bag Firm story about Jake Eastwood's Dad on another thread. Now it's Ramsdale's turn. The CBF were out Beer Ticking at Tournoi Maurice Revello in June 2018. That's the proper name for The Toulon Trophy, the invitational Age Group tournament that David Brooks played in (2017). England U21 were playing Qatar U19 at Stade Parsemain, Fos-Sur-Mer (won 4-0). Aaron was the keeper. The games were Double Headers, and the first game was nearing the end. There were two CBF, and two Civilians in the stand. Not a big crowd admittedly. I went to use the Loo. As I walked back up the aisle, a lady said ...... "Excuse me, are you Phil Rose?" "Yes, who's asking?" "I'm Aaron's Mum, we've always wanted to meet you".

Lovely people. Although Mr Ramsdale Sr didn't half like a big shout at the top of his voice, in a basically empty stand. I offered him a three match trial with the CBF. But, he politely declined....

Claim to Lame......

:)

I was hoping you were going to say “I’m Jake Eastwood’s father, and my son has your son in his sights.”
They told me "the Academy parents" would often sit at Academy games with their Twitter timeline open. Waiting for CBF tweets to zing in. They'd quickly look around to see if they could work out who had just tweeted "Ramsdale's gone fucking walkabout again...." (or similar). We've deployed a series of disguises since then.....

Good grief mate, how many years is it since we were sat at the bar in Napoleon's, (Kyle Walker was in, throwing chips around the tables like confetti), mesmerized by that new Guinness system, where they pour a can of flat Guinness into a glass, put it on a metal plate, and the bubbles start rising and it gets a head on it!

Of course, it could be another Phil Rose.
