Wilder has a fantastic record of finding absolute gems of players and often resurrecting careers that had gone backwards or not fulfilled their early potential.

Now I don't want to turn this into a fantasy signing thread, or I wish we we would sign thread. There's going to be enough of thise in January.

On a serious note, which Premier League players can you think of whose careers have gone backwards, who once were thriving, who you think Wilder could hypothetically resurrect?

I'll start the ball rolling with Christian Benteke. He was once a striker absolutely thriving at Villa who was scoring regularly in the Premier League. A move to Liverpool set his career backwards and he now looks a shadow of his former self at Palace. At 29 he still has time on his side to turn things around and get back to the old ways that made him so good at Villa.

Good shout, Benteke was once actually very good.

I reckon he should go with someone who's consistent been shit forever, yet still managed to maintain a career at the top level. Danny Welbeck would be a nice challenge.

Welbeck got an injury in his early years at Man Utd and he has never been the same since.

I think some players get a bad injury and there is little any manager can do with them afterwards.

Marc Albrighton.
Duffy, the Brighton one.
Fraser , Bournemouth.
Adrian - keeper
Kyle Naughton
Buendai Norwich
Pukki Norwich
Deeney Watford

Unsure of wages, but Torriera at Arsenal is reported to be of interest to Napoli for £25m
Right price, work rate right, reckon some CWAK love could be what he needs
Midfield bite?

Fuck that......end of

No way Benteke, doesn’t have the hunger for me.
Moise Kean could be another moose and if (when) we’re in Europe next season I think Pepe at Arsenal is a huge talent and will be a big player for someone once he gets in the groove.

Giroud is class and whilst he’s getting on a bit, we’ve already got three young exciting strikers in our ranks. Lead the line for the World Cup winners 18 months ago, he’s got immense pedigree.

Don’t think Che Adams would be a bad shout either and good competition for Moose, another talent who struggled finding the back of the net for a team on the south coast...

Be happy with Bowen or Watkins of course

Will Hughes (Watford) was amazing at Derby, might need to wait till they get relegated.

Since this thread was made, we've nicked Ndiaye off Boreham Wood.

I'm not going to even dare to say he's the next TC but...
Well so far he hasn't proved himself to be an absolubte cunt of a man. TC did that almost daily.
And i use the word man loosely in TC's case.

Indeed. Looking back to those heady days, pre pandemic, I was moving house for increased socialisation opportunities. Within three. months, all my housemates had run away? Perhaps it was me running such fantasies as the one you allude to, or maybe I was just being prescient. 🤷‍♂️
