of 1 -10 .......... 1 being worst yer have ever seen the Blades and 10 the best where do yer rate us now ?

For me its a 2.

Are you absolutely serious? Do me a favour BB and list 5 of the worst moments as a blade and put in "now". I'd like to see how that list reads.

It's far from the worst, though admittedly not brilliant. At least I can go to the games with the expectation *we may* get something out of it.

It's better that the Heath and Robson days, nowhere near as good as the promotions of Wazznock and Bassett days, and very far from the entertainment of Spackmans team.

I'd stick it in about a 6

After saturdays second half performance I would have to go with a '3', I reserve the '1' for the performance against Port Vale all those years ago..

hey up Tony .........
1. owd trafford when best scored.
2. when tc sat on the ball at BDTBL
3. woody scoring from a corner Filbert Street.
4.Jags in the net against Arsenic
5. beating the pigs at swillborough

now ...... fookin shite, wasted loads of money a manager who cant manage and a owner who's lost interest ....again.

Difficult question in terms of a number, but for me this team and this manager are almost impossible to watch with any degree of meaningful passion or support. I still love 'the shirt' and no doubt will get a season ticket eventually but it's like watching a different club at the moment. Kevin Blackwell has stolen the proper Blades from me. My criticism of Blackwell started off ages ago and it was a bit of a joke at first, laughing at his press comments and his manner and his claims about millions of chances created, but all my nightmares are coming true with this clown. It's a very, very bad time at the moment and with Blackwell in charge it is going to get alot worse.

In chronological order (The 1s)

May 1979 at Cambridge followed by no Yarmouth due to misbehaviour of our coach on Friday night.

December 1979 Boxing Day

May 1981 - A Given

April 1993 - Wembley

May 2003 - Cardiff

The current situation does not hold a candle to the trials and tribulations from May 1979 to May 1981.

6. Other than the Bassett & Warnock years I can't think of many others that I've enjoyed. Spackman bailed on us and it ended badly, Kendall kept us up and then failed in the play-offs (same as Blackwell!), Bruce was monotonous, McEwan, Heath & Robson appalling. After DB & NW I'd rate Blackie's years as 3rd, but due to funds we are on the way down again.

6 for me, maybe 6.5.

When I come out of the ground and its not been great its probably a 5, but when I listen to the idiots ringing up praise or grumble or read another 10 page thread on here debating why Blackwell's white tube socks are a sign he's possessed by the devil my stance softens and I return to a 6/6.5.

Any of the other "clappers"/"optimists" (or whatever we're currently called) feel like that? The constant whinging and complaining actually catalyses my "support" for all things SUFC. That probably doesn't make sense.

What? That doesn't make any sense..those are your 5 worst moments as a blade? Beating the pigs is one of your worst moments? Did you read the question correctly? Am i missing something..?

To answer the original question, I started watching in about 95-96, id say this ranks alongside the many many many many other seasons in this div since then when we've finished about 7th/8th/9th (quite a few if you look)

slightly worse since the football is not as good as some of those seasons. About a 5 or 6 rating

Cup runs do make a difference as well imo, they can be the difference between a dire season and a decent one.

Bless you BB for answering so thoroughly but I think you misread my request. :) I was trying to get a grasp of what you'd consider WORST moments as a blade if now ranks so low.

hey up Tony .............. i didn't :p i was remembering sum of the good time... yer know when the Blades had sum fight in em !

Chelsea Away?

Well I suppose Chelsea away and Wigan at home should be added to the list as 1s and also Birmingham away 1975 as well as Wembly 1997 and 2009 but for various reasons they didnt have the same impact as the 5 originally listed.

For me its a 2.

Then you haven't watched us long enough or you aren't being honest.

Technically, as in the most technical team I've seen I'd say we were about a 8, performances and quality of play we're currently a 6.

8? You're joking, right?

UTB

For me its about a 3, generally this season has been boring, cold and a waste of £400..I have however invested another £400 as an eternal optomist.

For me about a 6. Nothing like as good as the 10's for the Woodward/Currie promotion season (best football ever from Blades) and 4th division championship season (we actually won something and the away games that season were brilliant). But nowhere near as bad as the Don Givens season or the Brian Robson/pigs double season. Just somewhere in between like so many many others.

Probably around a six. Considering our defence has been mainly borrowed we haven't done that badly. It could easily have been worse. Of course if our manager had got it spot-on before the season started then it could have been a whole lot better. It's still not as bad as it has been in the past. Not by a long, long way.

Still, chin up.

Bramley's post sums it up nicely for me. Around a 6 -7. In 50 years of watching the Blades I've seen some awful teams expecially around late 70's and v.early 80's then pre Bassett.
Some of the shite pontificated on here about KB is pure opinionated bilge by vindictive know nowts who have a vehicle to make them sound big and clever.
He's no saviour but by the same measure, he ain't done too bad also.
I think he may well go at season end but whover comes in will be subject to the same vindictive criticism by the same sad charlatans who purport to be fans. Can't see t'wood for trees!
I rarely post these days as reading some of the unjustified stuff on here makes me switch off.

Anyone who was watching at BDTBL in the early 70s and then endured the decline from 1975 to 1981 knows that however bad it may be now, it doesn't hold a candle to some of the stuff we put up with then. Even after the promotion from Division 4 (and those single agenda postees, just dwell on that for a second!) which offered some cheer, there was some awful seasons under Porterfield, McEwan, Heath et al. Current situation whilst not being the best, is nearer that than being the worst!

Hard to grade on a scale of 1 to 10, but I think it is difficult to argue against the proposition that next season's team is likely to be the worst we've had since Heath was manager. I'm more pessimistic about our prospects next year than I have been since that season.

For overall failure of management, this is one of the worst seasons in the last 40 years - with Robson's running it close.
Too many bad decisions made, particularly the one involving Kyle Walker - both his sale and the pathetic failure of the loan agreement.
Clearly not all Blackwell's fault but I do not buy the argument that we've been doing fantastically well to keep in the hunt when that hunt has involved winning 2 or 3 points out of 30 or so in the last 10 odd away games.
I can't remember losing 7 on the bounce away from home before, though I stand to be corrected.
The whole club is being badly managed with no sense of any young players coming through which underlines the two Kyles as seemingly being accidental plus points rather than part of anything sustained.
You cannot judge this season against those of the late 70s etc without looking at the relative strength of the finances now and the alleged all-singing, all-dancing academy set-up.
Put in context, United's footballing performance has been terrible.

How soon they forget Neil Warnock and his 4-6-0 Premier League away formation...
