Would have him back in a heartbeat. The most naturally gifted talent I have seen at the Lane and I caught the last few games of TC. Also he brought some.light to what was a particularly dark period on the pitch for us.

This exactly.

I've been watching for 50 years and Tony Currie and David Brooks are the best young talents I've ever seen down there in a United shirt. Brooks is an exceptional player, the likes of which you get to see playing for your team once every 25 years or so, if you're lucky. I'd also have him back tomorrow - injured or not. In fact, this could be a good opportunity for United to get the lad back home at a price we can afford - and what a coup that would be!

Can I just point out...we don't have to "compare" with other players that we already have. e.g. the "I'd rather have Mousset" comment. No one is saying it's an either/or situation. We're talking about building a really effective and exciting team and players like Mousset and Brooks are exactly the kind of talents we should be looking to include in that. What we have currently is a very effective, well-organised, highly-motivated team of solid, hard-working, players. That will always be the number one priority to have that. But - if we want to take it on to the next level, then adding some exceptionally talented players to it can only be a good thing. And Brooks is an exceptionally talented player.

I hope the lad makes a full recovery and I hope we nip back in and take him from under their noses.

Would like to know your thoughts on the previous 6 years if Brooks’ breakthrough year was a dark period. 😂

GLTTL anyway. Why anyone would have any animosity towards him is weird.

He came into the side in arguably our most successfull spell in a decade, if that's a dark period then.

People overplay him, yeah he's good but I'd argue Didsy and Duffy are technically better than him and they both came on frees.

Agree Duffy and Didzy are far more effective in our team.....Brooks had similarities to Ravel Morrison.

He showed us some sublime skills and flicks out on the wings and near the centre circle but lets not over exaggerate his contribution to the team.

He rarely started games because he wasn’t quite good enough. Brilliant individual player but not good enough in our system. He seemed to prefer to be a winger but we don’t use wingers.

I may have posted in this thread or a different one, but the EBV strain of glandular fever stays in ur body for the rest of your life.

It can lead to quicker fatigue and dehydration, longer recovery time for muscle injuries and many other things.

So while I would have him back happily it would only been after he had some serious game time under his belt and showed no adverse effects..

Brooks debut season was the end of our 6 year stint in division one...a pretty dark period in my memory if not yours. His arrival on scene full time the next season brought many memories including the nutmeg.at Hillsborough etc.

You cant class the previous seasons as part of Brooks senior career with us though.
 
He's a very gifted player ,great technical ability and vision also a good athlete .
Had some bad luck in the last few years but I will be surprised if he doesn't go on to have a great career , Bournmouth didnt extend his contract for nothing.They will still find it difficult to hold on to him.

This is the reason cwak let him go, Our system requires players with 90-minute motors, Brooks spent too long on the periphery rarely saw him tackle anyone
and his closing down was more token than the level required. He's your archetypal luxury player. We have been far better off using Lundstram and how many foresaw that

If you've read anything I posted in the last 10 years you will know my views on that, and I'm having too good a time this season to revisit old arguments.

The season that we won the league with 100 points counts as part of the dark period? Really?

Very true but to move to the next level we will need the odd player or two with the nous that Brooke's has.Hes not a lazy player so defensive work is not beyond him.
As for Wilder not wanting him! who knows !
he wanted to play premiership football so no way could we stop him and the money gave Wilder some room to invest in the team, although he didnt push the boat out too far.

Spot on blade too long!.Wilder is given a budget and works within it ( dont think he would turn it down if that was supplemented) doesn't accept interference so decision 's are down to him.
Theres plenty of talk about him having a longer contract ! is he interested in one?.
He will be well paid but wouldn't say no to more would he.
Cant see him walking away to another club as he is still building at the lane.
My opinion is ! If he gets the support of owners he will stay to finish the job,
Being on a short ish contract puts pressure on them to keep him happy ! ok ! a long one doesn't stop him being pinched but it puts pressure on them to keep him happy and that means support with what CWAK are trying to achieve.
Wilder wouldn't be slow to let the fans know if he couldnt take us any further due to lack of support , so I think keep him happy and he will take us as far as can be possible with the size of our club ( how far is that ?).
He's still living the dream how many of us would love to have the nous to do his job?
Best job in the world managing your club to
Heights we couldnt even dream of 4 years ago, long may he continue in his dream job.
We lose him at our peril no one would come in and do the job hes' doing unless he was a big blade..

I was joking, doesn't come across well on here though. If he's retiring early I was suggesting he might be lazy. I'm sure he could afford to if he needs to!
 



If ever a moment epitomised the respective directions in which both Sheffield sides were, and are, travelling, it was that nutmeg at the sty. A flash of Red & White brilliance leaving a Wendy flailing and looking quite the tit.
The only regret about that match was that it didn't quite result in a goal, otherwise it would be as fondly recalled as Brown's volley.
For that reason alone, good luck Brooksy.
