Cover for Mousset needed

As like for like as possible.

He has become so pivotal to everything we do going forward that proper cover/competition for him has to be something of a priority. Especially with his apparent injury issues.

If he stays on today, we win. I have absolutely no doubt about that. He kept them pushed back. Our outlet, the constant threat. As soon as he went off they could relax, as we suddenly became limited.

Karlan Grant from Huddersfield stands out as an obvious option.

He was exceptional today and is growing with every game.

Said it before but I just love his love for the game.

As for cover, isn’t that what Robinson and McBurnie are?

on this showing it’s a solid no for me for McBurnie.

Robinson seems to understand what’s needed from a forward in our system. Let’s hope mcburnie starts learning that too.
 
Wilder said in his after match interview that Mousset, McBurnie and Robinson are going to be great players for us. He said they were young players making their way in the Premier League and recognised the McBurnie has had a tough time to start.

And wilder. You can see that he just wants to work his nuts off and earn love this way.

Some great examples tonight of how he didn’t get some decisions go his way, but didn’t moan and just got on with it.

Took a forearm smash to the face in the first half, but didn’t roll about looking for a foul, he took a moment and then cracked on.

He was about to be subbed off when he got injured!

I agree in general though.

Robinson looks like a busted flush
Sharp is a striker that isn't going to work with us at this level
McBurnie looks out of place and slows everything down

Whilst they all might have something to offer, I can't envisage them as regular starters in a successful team.
 
By January I reckon he’ll have 75/80 mins in him. At that point he’ll cause less of a headache for Wilder, at the moment he knows that 60 mins and that’s it. He was blowing out of his arse today after 60 mins. The other options aren’t as good, it’s that simple.

If we find another Mousset we’ve done well.
 
Grant has blistering pace and isn't quite a CF but more of a wide forward, and whilst he doesn't have the strength that Moose has or the eye for goal, there's a raw player in there to shape. He'd cost a sizeable sum, but I'm ok with that. He's more Maupay than Moose though, he wouldn't muscle Jones off the ball for the first, for example.

He's quite impressively made himself more of a CF recently. And he does have comparable power and pace. Where he isn't as good is technically.

*Aren't as explosive, as in form or the same type of player, I think is fairer to say. They've not hit the ground running yet at United. Not better/worse, just different players bringing different approaches. The explosive United with Mousset in the side are a force to be reckoned with.
 
Ricky completely agree, but I nearly started a thread saying the exact same about McGoldrick.

We don't look half as threatening when McGoldrick is off the pitch.

I think its harder to find a McGoldrick replacement than a Mousset replacement.

On the topic, I think we will be hard pressed to find genuine competition for the wing backs/ Norwood/ Mcgoldrick & Mousset’s in the January transfer window, given the inflated prices.

Genuinely excited to see what happens in the JTW!

McGoldrick is Mr Indestructible though to be fair!

We've certainly found our strike partnership. Now if we could just keep it this way for 2 seasons.....

I'd fancy Robinson/McBurnie/Freeman to have a better go at replacing McGoldrick than anyone would replacing Mousset though.

Agreed, they are different types of players but it’s also true to say that they aren’t as good. Not criticising but they aren’t as good at the moment. Hence why Mousse and McG are the first choice pairing.

Strength at speed is very hard to defend against!

It's great isn't it - when a hopeful ball bounces over the defence you fully expect him to get a clear cut chance from it.
