He took one look at you wearing a George Long top and thought, "who's this fucking mental lunatic?".The driver isn't even a football fan, never mind a Blade. He was Polish. I don't think he had the slightest clue what I was excitedly gibbering on about. Basically then, he had no idea who I was, which also means no lift, despite my United hat and George Long keeper's away shirt.
Small world, me too!DBL logistics ,Dave Bert and the late Linda have always been big Blades.
I used to go to away matches with them when Bert had his corner shop on Smithywood Rd over 40 years ago.
pity you couldnt stay up here i usually see you at the end of the game never been up to say hi tho you sit very near my cuz n his mrsBack to Surrey and home for a speaking assignment in Guildford tomorrow. Been in Whitby for a few days.
I've waited all my life for a truck like this to come and pick me up, so now I'm here at Woolley Edge I'm bloody well going to sit here and wait for the driver to come back to his cab! View attachment 65059
Just what I thought!Love it. But the arm positions make it look like they are all pissing against the wall!!
To be fair I'd have to question anyone wearing a keeper top on a Thursday afternoon that's not playing football!

Thought this was going to be some United-Cheese Cake Truck link!
really hope your right GB if we do I will come shake your hand at full timeI'll be back for the match on Sunday, especially after the dream I had last night where we won 5-1.
Why does it look like in the picture they are all having a wee ?
I must say, it was my first thought as well. Having had time to study it on the tube across London though, I think the idea is that are all reaching for their wallets, although I could be wrong.
Take my hat of to you GB you must have the patience of a saint hitching , you ought to ( if you haven't already ) have your own sticky thread on hear and post when and where you are in case there's any blades in the area to give you a lift , I'm often up n down the country for work so would be no probs if you were en route ishI'm now at Hatton Cross right by Heathrow waiting for a bus to the end of my road.
In the end my lifts were: Woolley Edge to Woodall Services with a trucking Blade who DID pick me up, but rather than the souped-up DBL wagon, his had a smaller but tasteful United badge on the curtain-holder-back-things.
Woodall to Leicester Forest Services with a chap also called Adrian who said I should write a book; funny you should say that, matey.
Leicester Forest to Brent Cross, North London, with two cool dudes called Levi and Mo who were somewhat impressed that Angellica is my niece.
I even then had time to pop into Tara Newsagent at Brent Cross Tube Station to have a natter with the Geordie proprietor who I've been talking football with for over 20 years now. We'd just finished discussing Steve Bruce when a Wednesday fan who is working on CrossRail walked in - they really do get everywhere. My Geordie mate pointed at me and said, "He's just been sayin' how glad he was when Steve Bruce fucked you lots over." Ahh, guilty as charged!
