He’s been discussed before.. lad from Worksop. Played up the age groups for a few years.

A few on here have seen him. Decent midfielder by all accounts.

Nobody, I say nobody called sonny blu will make a professional footballer.

There used to be a feature in the old "Lane Line-Up" back in the day, talking about our future players and how good they are going to be. It was the biggest load of old codswallop going. I still remember reading about some kid called Albert Staniland who was going to have a really bright future with us. He never saw the light of day. It was all part of a propaganda machine of course, to make us think that our club was really well prepared for the future. I don't blame them for doing it. As long as they don't blame me for not believing it.

As to this kid Frankie Maguire: Well maybe it's a bit different because the article is commissioned by and independent source, The Guardian. But I still think it's extremely difficult to predict, this far out, whether a kid is going to make it. I hope he does obviously. In the meantime, can we go and buy David Brooks back from Bournemouth? Because I think we could find a regular place in our squad now for another exciting, attacking midfielder.

It's often the ones who are less talked about that seem to make it, or those who peak later. Lowton, Walker and Brooks were all largely under the radar under.

I think the only real exciting player that everyone was talking about as a youngster, who has gone one to make it for us is Sharp and that's taken a few attempts (not his fault). Probably Maguire too.

I'd say the young players which have come with the most press, pre-first team in recent years are the likes of Ian Ross, Elliot Whitehouse, DeGirolamo and Jake Wright. None really lived up to the expectation. I guess what I'm getting at, is it's really too hard to tell unless they start playing professional football.

Hasn’t Brooks been injured for a long time now? Has he really recovered from his illness when he was here? Whenever I saw him play he was always great first half and then disappeared

Some lovely traditional English names in that list

It's like the new team for Tolcaster FC in a Scorer comic strip. Miguel Azeez would be the opposition striker who played in Spain.

Bournemouths player of the season last year just got injured pre-season

I thought this thread was going to be about Wayne Bridge losing another woman to an England international centre-half!

Can't see anyone with the name Maguire making it through to the first team at our club.

Not sure if Maguire is to be considered the one closest to the first team now, or does Wilder just rotate 1-2 youngsters into the squad when he feels it's beneficial?

The U23 were due to play an important game against Wigan tomorrow. That's been postponed now, but it may have ruled out 1 or 2 of the ones that have already been on our bench.

Anyway, if we're 3-0 up, get him on!

I remember that deal with the 2 Kyle's, Naughton at the time was the higher rated. I went to Wembley to watch the Wembley cup 2 games of Tottenham, Barca, Celtic and some other random team and chatting to a spurs fan I told him Walker would be the better player but he didn't believe me.

I remember that hardly any of them lads made it bar Clive mendonca do you remember the fella on the kop who used to chant his name every time he was on the bench

Fucking hell, that Guardian list. At best 4 or 5 out of the 40 have so far gone onto big things.
