Chris answered a question put to him on goals on Sunday yesterday in a quite interesting way, I thought.
He said it was essential to strengthen in January due to the demands of the Premier League, and that he was currently in discussions with the club as to budgets and requirements etc.
Interestingly, he said 'if we were adrift at the bottom, I would probably tell them to keep their money in their pockets'.
That's is clearly not going to happen, so not a real consideration.
We can only speculate at the size of budget available, and the areas he may want to strengthen, but I'm certain that it will be interesting.

Hopefully Wilder has some wheeling and dealing plans....as he needs to move a couple out as well.
But all depends how much he trusts the cover players, we will see a few suspensions unfortunately, with Bash, Fleck, Norwood all highly likely to get at least one game suspension this season, but more likely at least 3.
Just need to ensure they aren’t at the same time, and make sure they get booked tactically.
But the likes of Osborn, Jags, Stearman and maybe even Morrison or Besic for the deep midfield roles could be called upon soon.

Out:
Morrison
Freeman K
Stearman
Robinson on loan
Besic maybe if we could sign Robinson replacement in that spot

In:
1 loan (foreign if Besic stays)
Maybe 1 permanent

You would imagine that outgoings would be balanced with incomings to maintain the 25 man squad ?

Are you saying we will go with a smaller squad then ?
I don't know anymore than anyone else but I think we'd be looking for proper 1st XI competition. The players going out are mostly break in case of emergency

Clarke out and I would look to loan Moanes Dabour from Sevilla. They bought him in the summer for around £16m from RB Salzburg but then bought Javier Hernandez. They then tried to sell Dabour 3 weeks after buying him.

37 goals, 16 assists in 48 games last season.

I wouldn’t be overly surprised if Besic was recalled by Everton. He hasn’t been getting a game and they may be a little light in midfield with Gomez and Gbamin injured. So we would need midfield reinforcements.

Loan striker for sure.

UTB
who to replace? Didzy and Mousse are looking like our pairing, and i think we should stick with em...

Backup-wise, its difficult, we cannot really expect any striker to perform playing 10 minutes at the arse end of games.

We will strengthen midfield and defence... osborn will play a role in these areas, personally i think he will be absolutely quality for us in the end, we need a few more in this area

Why get rid of besic and who's Robinson ?

£20 million, same as pre season

There shouldn't be any set budget. It should depend on what's available.

There'll be unprecedented interest from players to join the club.

There could be some great opportunities to make a head start on next summer.

Or anyone decent might expect us to pay 70k p/w and value could be hard to get.

Interesting shout. Wonder if they're still keen to ship him out.

Good example of the sort of possible loan to look at.

For the sake of debate only, if we had, say, Vardy and Maddison, I genuinely believe we could challenge top 6. So for me, they are the two key positions to strengthen, assuming a decent budget, and that the aim is to strengthen the team and not just the squad. I realise finding someone of that ilk, at the right price, is not easy, but hey, we've got CWAK, anything is possible.
