If you could pick any striker from any era

To perfectly fit our team and style of play (aside from the obvious Messi, pele, maradona etc) who would you go for?

Don’t think I’m too far wrong when I say the ideal forward for us would be an excellent link player outside the box (Mcgoldrick) whilst also a good penalty box striker, with less importance put on size and power.

Can’t stand sheringham. I remember him in the referee’s ear all game for West Ham. I think it was a cup match we won on penalties. Possibly Kenny saved both Harewood’s and Sheringham’s but that might be wishful thinking colouring my memories.

Also, going back in time a bit, MI MIC MICK MICK JONES. His unselfish link play & work rate laid many a goal on a plate for Alan Clarke. No need to look outside our club for candidates.

Such a shame that loads of people's opinion on him is based off his spell at Chelsea when he was in decline and couldn't cut it. I grew up being obsessed with AC Milan because of him, finally got the chance to see him live when Chelsea came to Bramall Lane in 06/07 and of course he got injured in training that week and didn't even travel. His finishing was absolutely unreal.

Good call .

Whilst JG's record is unsurpassed , it has to be said that most defences were a lot slacker in his era than those that McDonald and Shearer faced .

Both of the latter had the ability to score from 5 yds. or 35 yds. on a regular basis which is very rare and for me , it would be a toss up between the two .
