He was pretty good, I thought. Played excellent advantages for both sides.

The flamboyance with which he pointed to our Goal Kick right at the end was hilarious.
I noticed that ,excellent and adds to the entertainment ,he plays a pantomime villain and up his own arse but like someone said , hes a football man ,the players seem to respect him and by far the best ref we have seen this season.

He was alryt tonight. However, anyone else think when he blew for their lads dive he sort of looked towards the penalty spot for like a split second as though to add a lil drama to the situation? If you get me?
It's not football without the drama lol

I think he had a good game and I reckon our players are learning fast in respect of game management and the cuteness of knowing when to go down,
there's a tolerance for a low level of gamesmanship (cheating) and we're beginning to cotton on,we're not used to it and wilder hates it but you can't play straight when the opposition are getting away with petty stuff.Last night was the best we've done in this respect.

my point to the original post still stands, he missed a blatant penalty for them for shirt pulling.
Was it fuck

If he was pulling him so hard how did he manage to go so high? He would’ve got a personal best for the high jump at the 2012 Olympics and that’s without the stick they use

If it was that blatant VAR would have given it

The BBC live feed that I read back through after the game said VAR didn’t review it, which seems a bit crazy tbh. Didn’t really notice the challenge at the time, but if this were the other way round I think we’d have been a bit annoyed.

I can understand why, I don’t think it’s a pen at all

Pole Vaulter :)

It’s a game of opinions. For me Egan pulls his shirt which is enough to unbalance him as he’s mid-jump. If the penalty had been given I doubt VAR would have overturned it. That’s me trying to look at it as neutrally as possible.

On the Dean front, I’m not a particular fan of his but was pleased to see him call out both teams on blatant diving.

Agree on the diving point. Why Didsy dove I’ll never know.

A shirt pulling is a shirt pulling, it should have been a penalty. Mike Dean missed it, I’m not complaining.

You’ll probably come back with something like “ it must happen 10 times in a match, should 10 penalties be given?”

to which I would answer “yes”.

All about opinions..

obviously mine is right 😃

He pulled his shirt. Doesn't matter how hard he pulled it, it's a foul.

Shirt pulling is not actually specified as an foul. I would guess that for a foul to be given it would have to be considered as Holding an opponent. However, that in itself does not make it a foul. It also has to be considered by the referee to be "careless, reckless or using excessive force".

A proper ref he was, he could out pace many of the players with the old knees up style. Always a crowd favourite at the lane firm but fair.
Which is more than can be said for the old geezer with the flag in front of the South Stand. He missed several offsides as he clearly wasn't quick enough to keep up with play.

Darren Cann is one of the Premir leagues best linesman, and having watched the game back on Sky, he got all the calls right.

We have David Coote for our game at Wet Sham on Saturday. Cooooooooooooootes :)

I agree too quick to book Fleck after 6 minutes, he won the fkin ball. That decision made Flecks performance all the more remarkable over the next 84 minutes plus. Deans best decision was the Arsenal players simulation in the penalty area. He was only a yard away and got it spot on.

It was the way he booked Fleck that pissed me off, he strutted over and got his card out at the last possible second for dramatic effect.

Apart from that he didn't do bad. Booking their player when it would have been easier to give a penalty showed some balls.

I thought Fleck got the ball but could be wrong.

Completely agree with the pen/yellow. He could easily have given a penalty even though it wasn’t one.

He reffed it well (easy to say when the pen call favoured us), but I don’t want refs who seek attention. And he absolutely loves that.

I thought he did ok, bit of Sir Laurence Olivier acting when he gave goal kicks...................
