Had it bought for me by the lad [Liverpool fan] I took in. Believe it or not, I rather enjoyed it 🙂
Shame on you Stretchy, if you're going to 'experiment' in life, selling yourself to a young scouser for the price of a pie isn't the way to do it if you ask me.
What on earth is this world coming to? :(

Gave up on the Shapla as I got fed up with Mr Malik continually trying to inflate my bill for more than we’d ordered - what a way to treat someone who’d been going there for 35+ years. Really good food but keep your eye on your bill fellas; I ain’t going back.

Kpasa is nice had breakfast in there before liverpool match
shoram street greek is good
also try street food on chef arundal st
Not tried the others but Street Food Chef is very good. Beef burritos with cheese and Mexican Hot sauce - my favourite!

I had a similar experience at Almas in Dore. But the thing that stopped me going there was when I ordered a takeaway and paid cash and he didn’t have change in the till so took it out of the Tsunami appeal bottle on the bar! (Laughing as he did do!).

I hope he put it back afterwards but I wouldn’t be so sure and I then felt bad afterwards about accepting my change.

I should have refused it. But I just thought that was a very low thing to do. I’ve never been back since.

I stumbled across Fanoush on London Road a while ago after wanting something other than burgers, chips, pies and the like and some of you may mock falafel and halloumi but it was bloody lovely and their happy hour is something like 1-5 so you get £1 off. The Portuguese nata stall on the market is good if you're walking to the Lane that way and fancy something sweet.

Always contemplated it but never gone in but now it's been mentioned, I might have to stop off there next time :)
I can vouch for Fanoush - used to be a regular when I worked in Sheff centre. Like having a delicious kebab without any of the guilt or "after-effects"

And they laughed when I went for falafel and carrot juice before the match... 🤤

Been going for years. Although on the subject of after-effects... After chickpeas and chilli sauce I feel obliged to carbon-offset. 💨 💨 💨

Just don't go there expecting Vietnamese food.

I notice there's another Vietnamese place opened near Woodhead Road. Not tried it yet though, so can't comment.
It might not be totally Vietnamese but the food in there is very tasty and really good value

The shawarmas directly across the road from the Cremorne are fantastic and ridiculously good value for money.
Nah. Awful place. Ropey meat. If you like this place then you have no self respect or taste. Avoid

I always go to Ashoka on Ecclesall Road when in town. Not far from the Copthorne when staying over. Taxi/walk.....

Very friendly relaxed place.

HH

Never been. That looks right up my street.

Did you ever ask why the "Taxi Driver Curry" is so named?

If we're going as far as Ecclesall Road I'll throw Maranellos in. Top notch Italian.

Can't say I have Flawed, do you know why?

I must confess I don't really study the menu. I usually ask the waiter to recommend a dish or the chef to knock something up, not too spicy or sweet, some special rice, and a lentil dahl. Jaipur on the side. Small/modest portions as well (you need to leave some room for beer afterwards!).

Let me know what you make of it if you decide to have a curry there.

Cheers,

HH

My nephew and son 18 and 16 love to grab a gyros from Kostas after the game ,not bad quality for the money .

Been to Amigos on London Road post match a couple of times now and found the food reasonable Mexican fair.

Best places for grub around the lane? Looking for ideas as we always end up in the same places:

Shapla - I think it's one of the best Indians in Sheffield. I generally like hot curries, but their Korma is to die for!

Cremorne - two pints and a pizza for a tenner is a bargain (a couple of seasons back it was two pints and a pizza for £8, and you could order Birra Moretti, which cost more than £4 a pint. They seem to have cottoned on to this scam though 😂). The pizzas are really good though!

Any other recommendations?
When I was a lad all we had to keep our hands warm was a hot pork pie & a cup of oxo
