In 2017 Wilder's United won promotion from League One along with Phil Parkinson's Bolton and Neil Harris' Millwall. Parkinson left Bolton a few weeks ago and today Harris has quit Millwall, after doing an excellent job on a limited budget. All three managers can be proud of the excellent jobs they have done at their respective clubs.

Against the normal trend in English football, there's a fair few long term managers have been around now. For years new managers were lucky to get 18 months before being sacked.

Chris Wilder is currently the 12th longest serving manager in the football league and there are several others who are now into their third or fourth seasons their clubs.

Personally speaking I see him struggling anywhere else but Millwall. His status with them gives him the protection from too much criticism.
