Anyone else getting concerned that young Robinson isn’t quite kicking on as expected?

He seemed on fire pre season, saw plenty of the ball, and was turning players inside out and running with it well.
He seems to spend the whole game chasing the ball around and not really having any impact at the moment.
Wonder if the step up is proving tough for him, and maybe a confidence player so this is also compounding the issue?

No doubt he knows he has a lot to learn, but I watch him play and wonder what he has offered in his last couple of games that a fully fit Leon wouldn’t offer.

Note- this ain’t a dig at the lad, he seems to be getting less involved and less impactive so I’m wondering if he needs a spell on the bench to take the pressure off and get some confidence back.
I would start him against Sunderland with a view of him not starting the Liverpool game. (Unless he plays a blinder and comes off the field as fresh as a daisy)

Wondering if Mousset has the legs for a start yet....with the lack of a Duffy role in the pitch we need the forwards to be dangerous, and so far most teams have managed what we have fairly well. The only player who has seems to cause teams issues is Mousset.

It's not easy to look good when you're feeding off scraps, however I believe there's other things he could contribute with without the ball and he doesn't seem to be doing those basics.

There was a few occasions on Sat where he looked 50/50 to win a ball in space, yet ambled towards the ball. Doesn't appear to have the burst of pace we all thought he did have when he came (perhaps the injury playing a mental role).

It’s still very early days. Only six games in. Luck plays a big part too. If the chances that McGoldrick has had fell to Robinson instead, who knows? Of course, we don’t yet know whether McGoldrick gets into those positions because he does something ‘better’ than Robinson, or whether it was pure chance. I’ll judge that after a few more games.

Robinson's struggled but there's been very few occasions when he's had players around him in good areas to link up with. So little time on the ball around the box. At Everton we were relentlessly defensive and the strikers were on a hiding to nothing. Expecting Robinson to link midfield to attack and be a striker at the same time is expecting too much.

Mousset seems to be my answer to everything right now but I think he's the key to our other attackers performing. They all need pace around them.

I get that he's not been consistently brilliant, but it IS only two games since he was fantastic against Chelsea (and he only played 6 minutes against Southampton).

He showed at Chelsea what he can do. The Prem is hard and it'll take time for players to adjust. I'm no more concerned about Robinson or Mcburnie than I am about our back line for the howlers they've dropped.

Robinson is a front player, needs players around him to link up with, as does McBurnie, if you're not supporting them what do you think is going to happen? Was the same until half time against Chelsea too. He was brilliant when we started to get at them in the second half after his goal.

Away from home when we play like that it has to be Moose and A.N. Other. At least with his pace we might be able to stretch them and worry them, at the minute it looks like Robinson is wary of sprinting possibly due to his hamstring issues.

I would prefer Sharp starts over all of them. Not at all convinced by the nearly 30 million we've spent on the latter two.

Back to my case in point, what do you expect them to do given the service they've had? They've had to play most games isolated upfront with no one getting around them because we've been playing with 2 banks. Saturday a definite example.

On Saturday that's true, I'm thinking more about the missed chances in the previous games that Sharp would have buried.

I do think Robinson is overthinking. He's taking an age to react to the situation. He's late with his runs, passing etc. I think a lot if it is down to him seemingly playing a slightly different position every week.

I think he needs a run in the team in one spot to come good. Whether he's going to get that (or if he's good enough to deserve it) is another matter.

Billy is a poacher. I'm not so sure he always finishes the Southampton chances. Didsy should have scored the first one but when was the last time Billy scored from that far out? Palace chance? Definitely.

McBurnie has had 3 buried 2 (one ruled out for VAR), with the 3rd being the one which lead to the goal against Bournemouth anyway

Pace is the only thing that will hurt Liverpool
They'll deal with McGoldrick dropping back all day, or McBurnie standing tall and battling. The only way to hurt them is by turning their defence around.

it’s a good shout.. would pack the midfield and stop it getting over ru but with Lundstram, Norwood, Fleck and Freeman there are 4 players who can pick a pass out, id back Mousset in the channels against VAn Dijk mouth more than I would if it’s played init feet with his back to goal. the goal against Chelsea shows he’s a poacher too
