Stupid unnecessary tackle by a player who should know better, gave the referee a decision to make. If the same tackle was made on a Blades player the crowd would be calling for a red IMO.

Most premier League teams put as much research into the ref as the opponent's and mason always gives a foul for any half decent dive
What struck me today though was the amount of times he waved play on when one of our lads was fouled or how lenient he was with his cards for their players
He seemed intent on giving us fuck all and it really spoiled the game

For me that red card is the result of Billy not getting his chance in the team For the time he was on we had some great chances in their box, he used the ball well
The sending off wasnt a red, but the reason he was high tailing back and hustling like a tasmanian devil was liely the build up of frustration that he has not been starting. Poor lad got bugger all chance now he will miss next 3 games . Feel for the lad

I don’t. There’s a niggle to his game in general and he too often has little digs in areas where there’s really no point.

Taking this on a tangent...

A couple of years ago, the Beeb showed the first game of the PL vs Manchester United where Deano scores the first goal as part of 25 years of the Premier League.

I watched it, and it was dogshit.

The standard of both teams was frankly woeful, neither side could string 3 passes together before losing it. And this was the title winning Man Utd side as well.

The standard of football we’re watching now, both at BDTBL and across the country is light years away from the turgid shite that was served up in the 90’s and a large part of that is due to players being able to express themselves on the ball without thinking they’re going to get hacked down in 3 seconds. Even defenders can pass the ball now, remember not too long ago they were there just to get rid? The awe and wonder when Rio Ferdinand came through the ranks because he could dribble the ball

While I don’t think Billy’s was a straight red, clamping down on slide tackling HAS resulted in a far, far better viewing spectacle IMO.

Watch it again, he was brought down and didn’t get a free kick about 15 seconds before the foul, then sprinted back just to kick someone. You’re right, he did let us down a bit yesterday but to be honest I don’t think we’d have scored until next week after the VAR disallowed goal, knocked the stuffing right out of us.

I'd be surprised if there was any contact with the foot, sure he ran into their player but that knob of a ref couldn't wait to get the cards out for our players. If that was a red card what was that assault on Mcgoldrick worth earlier? I don't think the ref gave us anything all afternoon, today was a welcome to the cheating Premier League expect a lot more of what we have witnessed today I'm afraid chaps.

It doesn’t look great on this replay. First time I’ve seen it given the club’s YouTube highlights omitted it. It’s in that grey zone of relief when it’s just a yellow and little surprise when it’s a red. Are there worse challenges that weren’t red? Absolutely – and you only need to look at Fraser for Bournemouth on opening day for an example of that. The issue here isn’t the decision, but more the inconsistency in decisions.

Really though, Sharp will know it was idiotic. He will know that there is no chance of it being overturned. He’d made a really impact in the game, indeed an outstanding impact as Wilder said post-match, but for that moment it was Madine-vs-Brentford-esque on the brainless scale. That’s him out of contention till the Watford game. He may need to bide his time till returning to the bench too, given those in the squad that have been waiting for opportunities from the bench.
