Sheffield United strikers David McGoldrick and Callum Robinson have been ruled out of the Republic of Ireland's friendly against Bulgaria.

McGoldrick, who scored the equaliser in Thursday's 1-1 Euro qualifier draw with Switzerland, has returned to England for treatment on a shoulder injury.

Robinson picked up a hamstring strain which forced him off on Thursday.

Here's hoping not too serious. But we could do without this.

Was it a hamstring strain that Robinson had a couple of weeks ago? At least Moussett will be 2 weeks further on by the Southampton game.

Sounds like Didsy already had the shoulder injury so shouldn't think its too serious as he played almost 90 minutes.

"David came into camp with a shoulder injury but was determined to play against Switzerland and what a game he had. He was brilliant from start to finish and capped off a great performance with a first Ireland goal that was no more than he deserved.
“Callum felt his hamstring in the second half of the game so it is best now that he also goes back to Sheffield United for treatment. There are a few other bumps and bruises about the place but we will see how everyone feels after their short break over the weekend and take it from there on Sunday.”

Its a friendly , they were never going to play in it , Wilder and McCarthy will have come to an agreement defiantly with McGoldrick because of his age , Robinsons might be right , but we have plenty of cover all chopping at the bit to play . Might be Billy's chance to start against his former club ?

McBurnie and Sharp please, Mousset off the bench. Although it sure it’s just playing it safe.

Robinson did his hamstring badly last season so this is one we could do without. He might need nurturing back carefully.

McGoldrick will probably be absolutely fine.

Mousset is ready anyway. Might be the opening he needs. But it would be interesting to see who'd start between him and Sharp.

I did comment a few days ago that if a couple of strikers get injured/suspended Leon Clarke will probably make the bench, so considering these two play internationally it was quite a smart move to keep him in the 25 man squad. Hoping he won't be required mind, as much as we love him

Be furkin great if he did play and scored though , I would love it , Leonnnnnnnnn ringing around the Lane again !

A few more mixed greetings from the Sweaty socks and McBurnie might end up doing a Norwood and say fuck it.

Yeah get Leon on !!!

A couple of Preston lads I know through work said Robinson is a great player but very injury prone .. need to try and keep that lad fit

Was McBurnie that bad? Didn’t see it.

McBurnie and Sharp, get the opposition defenders tired, bring on the Moose with 25 minutes left to absolutely run them ragged.

Robinson did his hamstring ?
He was out with ankle ligament damage for 3 months ,don't recall him having an hamstring problem as well!.I could be wrong but it took him sometime to get match fit and was just coming up to speed when we played them and beat them 1-0

It was a hamstring injury last season. A bad one as far as they go because he missed about 4 months.

I’m delighted to hear of injuries to our players because it means Billy cangerrarun. He’s my favouritist favourite of all my favourites and that’s all that matters.

Robinson will have feigned a slight hamstring pull so he could travel back with Didzy, cos they lift shared to the airport.

I reckon Mcgoldrick and McBurnie will start against Southampton.

If Robinson has any issues best not to risk him with his history of injuries

Unless he has a real dislike for favourites, shouldn’t that be “favouritest”? 😉

Edit: Favouritest. FUCKING FAVOURITEST
