After reading the William Foulke article on the BBC website, I noticed Chelsea have a wax statue of William Foulke.
It got me thinking as he was only there 1 season in comparison to 11 at the lane.

What commemorations does the forum think we should have? I have been talking to Mester Garrett about possible other commemorations we could have. In my opinion we should have some sort of collage with the Blades legends on the back of the kop, but thought I would ask everyone else their opinion.

Also there is a funding issue of anything like this as all resources are rightly being put to staying in the Prem so it is something that would have to be funded separately. Crowdfunded basically. Again any feedback on the viability of this would be great as we can put it to the club. I personally think it would be an opportunity for the supporters and the club to work together to something we would all like.

I realise such a topic is out of place after such a fantastic result on Saturday but we have just entered the international break so thought it might garnish ideas and debate.

Like it.

Suppose there will always be arguments over who should and shouldn't be included in any commemoration but some type of flag or collage of all our heroes over history sounds good to me.

I'd certainly be willing to contribute if only a modest amount in relative terms (10s of £s rather than hundreds)

We should clad the new television studio in a big sculpture of him and he can sit there like Buddha and Lineker, Crooks and the rest of the pig-ignorant know-nowts can talk out of his arse rather than their own for a change.

Failing that, I’ve always thought it would be nice to have a plaque for individual players (picture of them, name, a paragraph about them, etc) on the wall outside the ground- like a Hall of Fame type thing- start by inducting a load of obvious ones (TC, Woodward etc) and then add 3 or 4 every season: could do it on the first home game. Could be on the John Street side and the wall around the car park on Cherry Street. Maybe inside the car park as well. Bit like a United version of Hollywood Boulevard.

We'd be at John Gannon after 5 years :D

I had a similar thought a while ago, but I'd put it on the back of the new Kop. Build the Kop with a steel panel cladding and then they can be taken down and engraved with famous players, or team photos of all the seasons on a bigger panel.

That would work a treat. We could commemorate plenty of players who deserve recognition without having to name stands after them or build a statue- could still do that for extra special cases like Tony Currie, of course.

We could install a lifesize waxwork of Neil Warnock at the door to the club shop, with a tape playing some of his quotes at random:

"Best bunch of lads I've ever worked with",
"Robbed by the ref again", "
"Couldn't fault their spirit"

One problem with that- give it a hot day and he turns into 'Arry.

no room for statues anymore, priority will go to a heated toilet with sheepskin rug floor for Neville and Carragher

In years to come Chelsea will celebrate the Great Wax Shortage of 2019 where bikini lines were left fuzzy, hipster moustaches became droopy and scented candle prices doubled overnight. Them were days.

The removal of the Pukka Pies sponsorship has completely ruined the proposed Fatty Foulke’s Pukka Pies Corner that so many fans had wanted. A missed opportunity.

I would like us to therefore ensure the refreshments at least reflect the club history:
  • The Fatty Foulke (pie)
  • The Tony Currie (curry)
  • The Andy Walker (haggis flavoured crisps)
  • The Glyn Hodges (a portion of delightful chips)
  • The Colin Kazim-Richards (a diet coca-cola)
  • The Jose Baxter (a full fat coca-cola)
  • The Daniel Boganovic (a packet of maltesers, about a year past its sell-by date)
Endless possibilities.
