O'Connell for England - Good or Bad?

Noticed that some have suggested O'connel should / could have been called up by Southgate to play for England.
I'm torn on this - in 1 way I would love for him and us to receive the recognition and it could certainly propel his career, but (2) this could either unsettle the player when he might realise that others are on min 4+ his wages (guess). Could have a detrimental effect to our team - he wants more money and gets it (rest of team want a raise) or pushes for a transfer.

I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't need an England call up to realise this. Unless of course the dose of leprosy last year, destroyed his mind completely.

Are you really discussing if it’s good/bad if a Blade gets called up for England?! We were in League One very recently. If we are getting players called up, it’s because the club is doing well. Relax and enjoy the ride.

It's wierd because we played the world cup (and the warm up games) with a back 3 and looked much better for it. Then he reverted to a 4 again for some strange reason.

I'm going to be brazen and throw you in to that group of people who said the same thing about Maguire when he made the step up.

I don't think he should be called up yet, by the way. But I think he will within the next 12-18 months.

I would love him to get an England call up. I always enjoy seeing United players getting recognised for the good work they do, and an England call up for Jack O'Connell would be brilliant.

It is easy to say that he is one footed, but players with a decent left foot are sought after, and it is definitely a huge asset to have a left footed centre half, and there are very few centre halves with the tactical awareness that O'Connell has, and the stamina to perform a role that sees him cover far more mileage on the pitch than many other players.

Within the next couple of seasons Jack O'Connell will have had an England call up, and could well have had a big money move to a top 6 club, and as long as United don't screwed over financially all we can say is good luck to the lad, because he owes us absolutely nothing.

He's going to be sold at some point soon anyway being called up for England will only increase his price massively. I think it's a good thing for sure. If he stays we have our own player in this young exciting football team. If he leaves for a bigger club we could get £60m+ in todays market.

I have 600 O'Connell shares in football index at 46p. Mings' call up shot him from 80p to above a quid. That kind of rise for me is worth around 150 quid.
