The Premiership - A dilemma

I'm not sure where this anti-Coutts line comes from unless you are just being contrary for the sake of it, but Coutts never broke much sweat for CW either. He didn't need to.
His game was about positioning and accurate passing.

Carry on defending Adkins though if you are wanting more of 'woe is me':shark: victimised thing.

I'm not defending Adkins in any way. Just resent any player who doesn't try when I've paid for a ticket. No big deal anyway, it's ages ago and the player has left the club. He did show what he was capable of when he got going.

We're going to need to be busy in the next few weeks.

Two goalkeepers, two strikers of genuine potential or pedigree, a midfielder and a defender as a minimum imho are required.

If Lynch and Osborn are filling the latter two roles, the others will need to be special.

'Special' in the sense that they can score between 20 and 30 goals between them. That level of special currently has a value of at least £40m, if not realistically £50m, if you use Perez (sold £30m) and Rondon (quoted £20m) as a guide.

Instead of playing the games, why doesn’t the PL just add up what each team has spent and set the league positions accordingly? It would save a lot of fucking around.

That's on the agenda for the next PL committee meeting. The top 4 highest value squads then play against each other. ;)

Not necessarily.

My point is more that imho as well as needing bodies in to make up a sufficient squad size, with maybe the exception of Freeman, the other signings and triallists are potentially decent and useful squad players but not clearly better than what we already have.

It's not criticising anyone, I just feel to stand a chance of staying up, we now need to be bringing in the remaining players to be starters and potential match winners.

I know we're limited budget wise but I think if we're serious about stopping up then committing say £30 million plus on two strikers is going to be needed. We may well be willing to do that in fairness.

I wasn't suggesting that you were criticising anybody, yours is a valid opinion and I was agreeing with you. I was just pointing out the current market value of what we need and whether that marries with what we can/could/should spend.

I've been picked up on my use of figures, and I appreciate that transfers fees don't always equal quality, and it's not all about money, so I rephrase my post just to say that before the season starts we need to buy two or three players that can contribute 20 to 30 goals next season, if not I think it will be an issue.

Agree very much with that.

Back to the OP, I take the point, but if we were going to be last season's Huddersfield or Fulham, or trying to stay up Tony Pulis-style, I get it.

We're not. We'll have a right go, I reckon we'll be fine and we'll cause some shocks, there'll be some great memories. Above that, there's a Blade as manager, and as skipper, and it's fun again.

But far beyond that Bladey nonsense (before Pinchy gets there)...last time we were up, we had to watch Mikele Leigertwood. So enjoy it, we're already winning

I’ve been lurking on the S2 forum for a while and on Bladesmad before that. I am a long-standing (sitting) season ticket holder in the South Stand, and my memories of The Blades go back to the golden years of the early 70s.
However I wanted to share an angst that I experienced recently for the first time when I came to renew my ST. After the success we have finally enjoyed in recent seasons, a voice was whispering in my ear, why renew the ST. This is as good as it gets, do you really want to see us struggling in the Prem. In the end I trusted in Wilder, and was swayed by the club holding prices stable.
What I would like to know is am I the only one to have experienced this crisis of faith and if so where should I seek help?

No mate I was exactly the same, but you can't imagine my relief that I went ahead and renewed, I'd be in a bad place right now but instead I'm looking forward to the challenge..
