I guess - I’m pretty sure the deal will still get done though and he knows he’ll be back sooner rather than later . It’ll be paperwork around his new deal holding it up imo

Probably - that said if we sign him a month down the line it’ll probably save us 70k or something

Plus he’s been here before and knows basically the entire back line from last season - so it’s not quite as bad as if we were taking someone who’d never been to Sheffield before and would need to sort out a house etc.

I do wonder why clubs do that - would Woodbury have had more success if he’d been with the club from the start of the summer rather than near the end of the window - they must have known they wanted to loan him out

I think Henderson has made it pretty clear he wants to play for us next season.
It’s Man Utd that are holding up the deal.
A better ultimatum would be to tell Man Utd they have until a certain date to confirm the deal or we’ll walk away.
That being said, i think if we did that then Man Utd would just send him on loan somewhere else; there will certainly be other clubs interested.

No mate, I've been fully aware of what's been said. Henderson said "I want to play for Manchester United this season, but if I can't, I'm sure I can go back to Sheffield United for a season and show them what they're missing"

He sees us as his safety net, and he shouldn't...I believe we can, and should do better, I think he's massively overrated and will get found out next season.

We should be doing whats best for Sheffield United, not what's best for Henderson...and this is the best opportunity we'll have to sign a top quality goalkeeper on a PERMANENT contract. Why are we wasting preparation time waiting for a season long loan of a totally unproved goalkeeper at Premier League level, who has been shipping in goals for fun at a post-season under 21 tournament? I struggle to see how this arrangement will benefit Sheffield United...I really don't want to be the guy saying "I told you so" before Christmas, but fear it will play out like that.
