Remember that match at Grimsby well Weasel .. Blades support was top notch even though we were shite , I think Grimsby had invited Reg Brearley to game in hope of him investing in them , instead he said he remembered our incredible support and chose us 12 months later funding the 4th Div campaign.. strange quirks of fate eh ?

Bert got to thinking about when he's seen us defeated yet he went home proud and happy.

Only ever happened twice.

Hull in semi final at Wembley and away in the cup at Norwich 1989.
It's not always about winning, it's sometimes about being very proud of your team.

That Norwich game is still one of my all time favourites.

Leeds away around 1990 ish. 3 nil down at half time, 4 nil down start of second half, then fought back and lost 4-3 in the end. Came out thinking if we had played 5 more minutes we would have got at least a point. It was the game Phil Kite was punished for carrying the ball out of the area when kicking. Leeds scored from the resulting free kick. Replays later showed he was well inside the area. It was just a shame we lost to them scum bags.

I was sat with the L**ds fans. When Steve Hodge scored their 4th early in the 2nd half, I wanted to leave the ground but I thought it would be too obvious for any L**ds fans looking for a Blade to punch. I couldnt believe it that we made it 4-3 with 10 minutes and I dont know how I would have reacted if we had scored the equaliser. L**ds fans sitting near me were really nervous expecting us to equalise,

But I do remember against Ipswich away under Bruce. I think we lost 2-4 or 2-5 - something like that, but we played really well. Remember George Donis having a stormer of game. I might have got some details wrong.

Oh, and definitely Hull at Wembley.

If we'd been playing the pigs we'd have lost. As it was West Brom 0-0 actually gained us a point.

I'll add the 3rd Round FA Cup tie at Ipswich in '74, when a Kevin Beattie brace in a couple of minutes before the break meant we lost 3-2. Great game nonetheless and we went back in April and Woody earned us a 1-0 revenge win.

I have my own version of VAR which I constructed myself from an old Kodak box-brownie, a bit of Meccano, a cardboard toilet roll tube and some sticky- backed plastic.

I ran that sequence again using this equipment and I can tell you without a shadow of doubt that the ball crossed the line and was a definite goal. However, Peschisoldo was offside.

The terrace under the stand was closed , the fences still had tarpaulins covering them . I can't remember for sure but I think the triangle part was open ?
I was in the South Stand , as were plenty of Blades.

I remember being beaten, well getting a good kicking, outside the Merrie England bar, around 1972, by six bus drivers in uniform. Quite proud when with a similar numerical advantage all six got it back a couple of weeks later outside the Claymore.

I’d forgotten about that. Another example of us being punished (as you say, incorrectly) for something that was so common it was just ignored by refs.

That was a bloody good Liverpool team with Michael Owen with intact hamstrings that we gave a run for their money.

I'll have a 0-3 reversal at Altrincham, who though non-league, were more than sufficient to have been a Div 4 club at the time.
Monday night in late November, soaking wet, Trusson sent off. We were dreadful, came only two days after the 2-2 at BDTBL, I think I still haven't got over it yet.
Maybe it was us saying that promotion was the major target and not a run in the FA Cup?

The Norwich game is a great memory despite the result.

I was a young(ish) pup working at Health Authority offices at Middlewood at the time . Ex Blade Dennis Finnegan ( Joe Shaw's understudy apparently) worked in an adjacent office and secured my ticket for the game.

We made a weekend of it , and got chased out of The Murderers Arms on the Friday night for singing ' Brian Deane and Tony Agana, bibbly bobberly boo'.

It was a bit cramped in that away corner as I remember.
