I’m old enough to remember hiring one of these changing tent things which always smelled fusty and I always managed to get sand in my pants when getting out of my wet trunks no matter how carefully I tried not to.

I remember these. Too expensive for us to use, we just wrapped a towel round and hopped on one leg. Dad never disrobed, he just rolled his trousers up a bit, took off his socks, fell asleep and burnt his feet, every single time we went on that bit of beach.

I remember my grandad always wearing his suit on the beach. If it was really warm he may have taken the jacket off just to look summery.

Our family was a bit like that through the generations. Great Auntie Bea caused a commotion when she ( a bit of a bohemian living down south) donned a bikini and went on Filey beach. People were running after her with coats and blankets to cover her up. Everyone else, much like your post, were in suitable attire of the day. Suits, long dresses and overcoats. Always hats (caps or homburg etc) .She was in her late sixties and apparently it was no a view for the fainthearted. Filey still feels a bit like a time warp to me .

Get your knob out in the Three Tuns these days and nobody blinks an eye.

There seems to be a lot of interest in knob size today. Is it cold outside?

I’m not happy about this image at all.

Although looking at that ‘sword’ its not going to be a quick death, certainly wouldn’t get the job done in the half time break.
Maybe if there is a previously undiscovered fatally allergic reaction to cardboard covered in baking foil.
