Incoming? Will Vaulks

We can't judge the signing of Vaulks, if he comes, as the sign of things to come. I wouldn't be at all surprised to still see a Gareth Barry or a Jon Mikel come in on a free for experience and whilst they might not be exciting we need experience too and Vaulks, on the other hand, is one to develop and has shown that he can play very well for one of the worst teams at the Championship. If Wilder wants Vaulks then he obviously sees something of a player in there. We can't sign a load of players for over £5m a player and we know that centre mid is one of the stronger areas of the team and its possible we can go with Norwood and Fleck as the leading two, whereas other areas in the team will likely require someone who can be a starter i.e the number 10 role and upfront for at least one spot. That's where we're more likely to see a more established player come in.

None of this makes any sense. Why would signing Vaulks mean he's going to be the only competition for Norwood? (He's competition for Baldock too by the way)
And what difference does it make if he's the 1st or 8th signing?
Gerrim in... And get behind him... He's a blade!

I didn't say it would mean that.

And he wouldn't be serious competition for Baldock. Or RCB for that matter. Just emergency cover.

Midfield (RCM or DM) is the only place he'd realistically play so signing him reduces the space for and reduces the chances of signing the required quality in that position. He'd cost a fee so it's not like we'd be bringing him in just to captain the U23s.

I'd see this as a last resort option rather than one to sign before we even know who else might be available and how the market might pan out.

We certainly can't go with Vaulks as Norwood's only competition.

Signing a player like him at this early stage would seem underwhelming and a little desperate.

Out top targets are unlikely to go this early in the window. Expensive deals and more moving parts.

Imo this is a squad filling player and one we can wrap up quickly. If it comes off

No they don't.
They have an opinion which they express which in turn is the whole point of this forum.
Something you spectacularly fail to grasp.
My experience of football fans in general (me included) is that we make decisions on whether players are any good, based on entirely illogical, unfactual, and emotional reasons. These opinions are often changed drastically after seeing them pull on a Blades shirt. And yes, many actually do believe they know more than Wilder!

Seriously underwhelmed if true. I wouldn't have been particularly enthused signing him in the Championship.

That is so true, for example, say we signed those 2 with daft haircuts from Leeds,I would be against them from the start(illogical I know)but soon as I saw them playing in our jersey,I would be ‘oh them haircuts show they got strength of character, tremendous players “

Not my first choice that's for sure, but if the two promotion winning managers are showing an interest in Vaulks and think he can make the step up, then who are we to argue?

Having watched that video, I’ve not really seen him play a pass, make a tackle or beat a man; but he can kick it really hard and do a backflip, so I’m sold!

Oh, they do. Don’t kid yourself.

I don't kid myself.

Do you not see you've posted the most amazing example of irony in the history of posting anywhere ever on any topic?
You unashamedly and seriously c claim to be omnipotent in everything you say..
you really aren't.

Although your opinions are more worthy of consideration than that idiot Tunstall.

Doesn't look out of place against the Croatian midfield from inter Milan, real Madrid and Chelsea. Got about the pitch put tackles in, is on set pieces probably should have scored as well.

He definitely should have scored, but he’s had a reasonable half otherwise. He’s done well to get in the lineup today too – quite new to the squad and already thrown in for this one.

Would not be averse to this as a squad player at all.

If anyone listens to the not the top 20 podcast - he made their alternative team of the season (players out of the top6). So clearly had a decent season last year.

The type of player that improves on the squad players we let go imo.

He is a very decent player but nowhere near good enough for the Prem struggled last season in Championship only stood out because he was a reasonable sized fish in a very small pond at Rovrum. Has all the attributes CW wants in a player just wrong league and about 3 years to late

Will never be Premier League class whilst he’s got a hole in his arse.

Did anyone watch the wales game today? Curious how he looked against Croatia. Didn’t last long in the game at the Lane so got to be honest not seen much of him to have an informed opinion

Current chatter in Cardiff circles that it’s a done deal for around £1.5m. Good deal for NW if true.
