Here's £20m, keep us up.

That's not part of it though how can Huddersfield suddenly go up and spend 50m meanwhile we go up with a slightly better team and not even get half the budget in a time in which more money is given to promotion teams, it doesn't add up. And to answer your question long enough to get pissed off at the lack of progress at the highest level at this club.

"it doesn't add up"

Decent idea for a thread, decent talking point.

But there's no way Jay Rodriguez is scoring enough goals to keep you up.
He’d weigh in with a few. More than any of our other strikers. But I probably agree which is why 20 isn’t sufficient.

Huddersfield spent £50m/ Cardiff £30m (minus Sala). I’m sorry but we need to spend more than £20m.

Wilder is a genius and maximises our shoe string budget, but in this league you need quality in every position or the weak link will be easily exploited by the opposition.

You're probably right, I think I've bought into the 'value for money' bit and how much he could have gone for last year part.
I don't massively rate him but at that price we simply can't do any better.

I read a great post on here though explaining why long term (even at £12m) Mcburnie would be good value.
If I stick to my rule in this thread though, we can't make it work if one player eats up that much budget.

£20m is no where near enough for us to survive. And if that’s all wilder has the club is a joke, whoever is the owner. There would be no excuse for it being that low other than the owners pocketing the money

Sadly the 20m is possibly correct, the "flexible" part that Wilder mentioned was in relation to player sales I'd imagine, in effect any you sell you get the funds for the transfer kitty..

Then the Baldock to Celtic rumour started.... Think on.

If ever a sentence summed up the Summer Transfer Window on here, that is it! :D :D

Absolute B/S. As if the club has come out and told everyone that £20m is the budget. Amazing how these kind of rumours escalate. NOBODY outside a few people at the club know what the budget is, so please put this one to bed.

Tell the lie enough times... ;)

Reece James.
Good call. Add that to my list and I'm happy with that.
I actually think it's more likely than not... there are maybe a handful of teams who would want him on loan (rather than transfer) in the Prem...

It looks like most teams mentioned previously would see him as one for the future rather than a loan that can have an immediate impact this season.

Plus Chelsea are looking like they are banned from transfers, and he's looking like a top prospect, could add in some reluctance to sell permanently. I can't see why they wouldn't go for a prem loan rather than a transfer.

They'd be crackers to ship him out when they've missed the boat on so many youth prospects in the past (Lukaku, Salah etc.. etc...). I think we might actually be a shoe-in unless something silly comes in for him like a £30m Manure bid!

I'm still amazed that people think Swansea will part with McBurnie for 12m.
They are used to spending and receiving sums way in excess of that, still benefit from parachute payments and must sneakily harbour their own desires of returning to the Prem.

So the owners are a joke and the budget is a joke, yet we still keep climbing.

We had exactly the same debate when we were promoted to the Championship maybe all these posts are just cut and paste from then.

Don't forget to add 20/30 million in wages to the joke budget and funds for January.

Oh when you add all that up you have spent 70/80 million in your joke budget.

I've never really thought of it like that.

They’ve just sold their prized asset to Man United for 15mil. Plenty of hype surrounding him, full Welsh international, next Giggs shouts and all that.

McBurnie for 12mil is reasonable

Fair enough we'll wait and see but James only had a year left on his contract (also it's reported as 18m; 3m is neither here nor there for Man U but it is the difference between us getting and going elsewhere).

Swansea apparently 'need' to bring in £30m so the current income of £15-18m leaves a very specific remainder....

The 20 million story was printed in the daily mail. FFS. I can’t believe how many people have openly believed it?.
Next people will be saying that every word Martin Samuels says is gospel😡😡. Nobody knows the budget apart from wilder and his staff.
Let’s leave it up to them and see what happens.
It’s clearly been a long summer already for some on here. Lol. UTB
The fixtures are out next Thursday😀. ⚔️

Reece James / Mason Holgate - Loan

Make that Mason Holgate then.

James has just been stretchered off with a serious looking ankle injury in a dead rubber Toulon tournament game. :(
