...until 1st July. This is to ensure that signings dont fall under EFL jurisdiction. We might well have already made the deal but wont announce and make official until 1st July.

Thought it might help with some who are getting their knickers in a twist thinking the court case is holding everything up.

But we are going to stay in the premier league for donkey's, once Mcabe wins the court case and sells up, EFL? Pah nowt to worry about.

I got told by a villa fan mate. It makes sense but I am just repeating what he told me.

Apologies I prob should have clarified in OP.

Makes sense, I believe that the 30th June is when contracts coming to the end usually finish. This list shows Prem players who come to the end of their contract at the end of this month.

I notice that James Wilson is one of them. It's a no from me.

Makes sense to me.

It's quite possible that some deals have been 'agreed' already. I think it absurd that anyone would be getting their knickers in a twist yet, however it happens every season without fail. A look back to before last season will show that folk were still concerned in August and look how that turned out.

Stuck on to end up at Salford in L2.

Villa and Norwich don't see it as an issue.

The pigs love to keep announcing that they are going to the PL.
Some love to air their ambition in public, especially when season ticket sales need a boost ;)
Some prefer to keep their powder dry and let results do the talking.

Ah a loan - so they've not signed anyone as yet then in line with what the OP suggested?
My question stands. Nicolaus_Copernicus said it wasn't stopping Villa or Norwich and I'm not aware of them signing anyone.
So I'd like to know what Nick was meaning or confirmation that he was just shithousing.

Shithousing? The OP said no signings (I took that to mean both loan & permanent) after being informed by his Villa supporting mate. Norwich have signed Roberts on loan and Villa have signed Jota on a permanent, and have put bids in for Etheridge and James. The OP said he was told about this by a Villa supporting mate, I was pointing out that Villa seem to be doing otherwise. Relax, it wasn't a criticism of us.

Yeah, shithousing. Why on earth would loans count for anything with the EFL?
Villa haven't announced Jota, it's not been confirmed and the deal hasn't formally been completed.
With regards to bids, what relevance is that? It's not even confirmation that they have actually submitted a bid, it's paper talk.
You were shithousing the OP, and your counter doesn't stand up to any sort of logical argument.

Personally I don't think Villa care about FFP as they've already blown it, but currently Marty's suggestion has some plausibility about it with regards to ourselves.

I don't think we'll have the finances in place to make official first payments until July at the earliest. Don't think Villa or Norwich are in the same boat

Also Roberts loan will not be a free one. I'd expect Norwich have stumped up that fee now to make sure nobody else could get him.

EFL have no jurisdiction over anyone who's been promoted. Cardiff were eons over FFP but they announced Bobby Reid in June last year

Perhaps i'm getting the wrong end of the stick. I inferred from the OP that any deals done before 1st July fell under EFL jurisdiction and were effectively from the 18/19 season, and that by completing business on or after that date you were in the 19/20 prem season. Whether it be a loan or a perm, it would still cost £'s. I only referenced Villa and Norwich because they were the 2 teams, other than us that would be under EFL rules. It's not a criticism of United about lack of action, it's an open secret we've signed DH on loan anyway.

I'm not really looking for conflict over it, tbh.

Who's actually getting worried about lack of transfers? I see more posts telling everyone not to panic, than the actual panic posts.

Since the transfer of shares takes place at the Premier League AGM, today we officially become a Premier League club and under their jurisdiction, so waiting until July has nothing to do with still being under the EFL. Any players we had signed before now would still be perfectly legal, like all of the existing squad.

Contracts tend to run to the end of June, so it usually suits everyone to complete transfers after then as nobody starts pre-season before that anyway, same goes for all clubs, not just the ones swapping between PL and EL jurisdiction. It's unlikely we'll sign anyone before July 1st, but there's absolutely nothing to stop us.

What actually is “shithousing”?

Is it winding up?

Or some houses in the fir vale / pitsmoor /
Burngreave / attercliffe areas?!

From our very own John Ashdown.

I believe, that Nick was being a bit of a dismissive dick to the OP without any real contradictory argument. He says he wasn't, and isn't looking for an arguement which is fair enough.

It's locking yersen in the shithouse and not letting anyone else in.

Probably with Salford once the Class of 92 get bored.

Quite possibly, even with their money, its so ruinously expensive to run a club the higher you go.
