Do the profits include any of the Tevez money?

Plus you have to consider the income we have received from transfers (£8m Kyles etc...). So is it really any better than last year?

I believe the Kyles cash will be in the next accounts, not these.

Happy to be proven wrong though.
 
The figures sound almost too good to be true. Are there any accountants out there who can tell us what's tucked away in the figures that they would prefer we didn't see? For instance, have the debts been transferred to another part of the balance sheet?

I'm not suggesting that anything is going on, but I've been around long enough to be cynical of such announcements.

There are a lot of Fans who seem to think something Big is going down, and it's not the normal blokes with the 'mate in the pub said' stuff either.

Some of our plans during the break were shelved on security/travel advice I believe. No idea why though.

The Yorkshire Post is reporting that "The sale of Naughton and Walker sees Sheffield United make profit" but I think Houso is right. The Kyles were sold on the 22nd July and United's Fiscal Yearend is June. So I don't think the £8M we got for them has been included in this year's £5M profit.

But does anybody know for sure? It is quite important because if we're relying on finding and selling £8M worth of youngsters every year to avoid making a big loss, then we're in serious trouble. Alternatively, if we've already got £8M tucked away in this financial year's kitty, things are looking much rosier.

Which should mean we are looking at £13 Million up, which again could give some credence to the £10 Million January budget which has been mutted.

Or it could just be rubbish.
 
I think it's very likely to be rubbish.

Why not provide funds in August. What has changed since then? Why spend big in January when you are 12-15 points behind automatic and when it is very hard to pick up players anyway.

McCabe's spin is getting out of hand if you ask me.
 
I would say we didn't expect to be 12-15 points behind and it is considerably easier to attract Premiership talent in January if you are in the top 6.

It was a fair gamble but between injuries and or the management it hasn't happened.

Eitherway it's a damn good results from a financial point of view.

Apologies if being thick, but wasn't the West Ham money spread out over 5 years? Haven't we only had one of the payments?
 
If this is true then perhaps he is selling up. Makes sense to put the club on a sound footing rather than gamble on players if you ask me. Short term it is frustrating but in the long term it could be what sets us apart from all the other championship clubs and alot of premiership clubs.

No need for apologies. You aren't being thick we've had one payment.

However that would mean under normal circumstances we wouldn't have posted quite that much profit.

There was a thread a couple of days back mentioning a £3m January budget and now £10m is mentioned.

Where have these sums come from? Is it anywhere remotely official?

don't be silly, it's all wild speculation.
 
For new investors we have to look like a profitable club, Trevor can bring those investors in. The published report is due more than likely in the first sector of the new year. Speculation will always be rife, and I'm not commenting on anything else as I get bitched at for thinking I'm "in the know".

If we repeat it a few more times on an internet forum, it becomes fact. And thats a fact..! :D


Anyway. Profit is sanity, and I'm pleased that we have nearly recovered the £6m loss from last year. It shows the quality of the leadership. Another win today wouldn't hurt either.

We've posted a £5.7 Million profit but does that include the debt repayment figures? Our debt reduced from £11 Million to £2 Million so would that £9 Million been £14 Million profit because I just can't see us making that kind of money in a season.

Obviously that includes the West Ham money but does anyone know what the first payment was? Was it the rumoured £5 Million a season?
Add to this figure the sales of Hulse, Shelton, Tonge and Armstrong (aprox £5.5 Million) I think means we made aprox £4 Million including our signings.

Now can someone clear the wheat from the chaff and tell me if that is correct or have I missed something? If not that means next season given the sales of the Kyles we would be looking at close to £20 Million profit, which again seems too much for a club like ours in the Championship.

The all the above is correct (and I'm sure I must of gone wrong somewhere) investors would be falling over themselves to get at a team making £10 million profit on a single season never mind £20 M.
So it would also seem likely that a large proportion of that would be available for transfers in January.
