I would string them along for weeks...make them think it's a done deal and then pull out at the last second leaving their transfer plans in gutter.

I wouldn't give them a penny

They have got themselves into a FFP mess. Let them find their own way out without the Blades helping them

Fk em!

Alan Nixon doesn't tend to get a whole lot wrong from my understanding.

There's no way we would pay 14M or anywhere near that for him. I reckon that's just a negotiation price slapped on him and them hoping some club will make an unrealistic offer close to that. He has one year left on his contract. We would probably be able to negotiate that price down alot, around 5M is the very max I think he's worth personally, which is a big amount considering how he's done the last two seasons but there's no doubting that when fit and in good form he's a quality play and would be good fit in our system (I can see why Wilder would want him). If he's matured and Wilder trusts him, I wouldn't mind us bringing him in.
For me quite the opposite. Alan Nixon will generate constant rumours throughout pre season of which plenty are bullshit. The problem is he quotes that many that invariably 1 or 2 become true which he then proudly announces “I told you so on **** (insert date) and promptly sweeps the rest under the carpet.

He must be one of the least productive players in his position ( wherever that is )in the league

It’s the fee more than anything given the age and our limited resources

Would you rather have option:

A) (14m) foresieri (we know he’s already on 40k wages)

Or say for illustrative purposes

B) maupay (15m) and Powell (free)

C) freeman (5m) and mcburrie (10m)

Sorry should have finished with, have him at a heart beat at half, at worst not in double figures.

I don't think Freeman is worth £5m Maupay £15m and Powell defo wouldn't cut in in the premier for me.

Give me FF at £8m, Maupay or McBurnie at £8-10m

We need someone who can do something different in the final 3rd.

Holgate
James
FF
Maupay

I'm going to add my points here, confident that this will be merged with the other thread.
  • Too expensive.
  • Too injury prone.
  • Too inneffective.
  • Too close to 30.
  • Too arseholey.
  • Too twatty.

It would be so funny if Forestieri was the first foreign player we signed.

Agree. Deffo a player In there.

Just hope we don’t save Wednesdays ffp troubles by splashing a price like that.

In what world does Maupay go for £8-£10m? Having a laugh aren't you?

If he had a much better attitude and you cut that price by at least 70% then I might entertain it. Talented little player and probably the only one in their squad that could do anything at PL level.

£14m is a ridiculous figure and Wilder would never entertain a character like that. No chance of that happening. At that sort of price we have lots of other better options.

Define foreign? Like from another country? Enda? Egan? Both from another country.

You genuinely think he'll go for that price??

I Genuinely believe he will go around that price because it's a buyers market due to the lack of buyers. There is absolutely no money in the Championship this season, with everyone having financial restraints. Even the teams going down in Cardiff and Huddersfield won't be splashing cash to get back. So that leaves you with only teams in the premier bidding on players like Maupay and McBurnie etc; How many Premier league in the bottom 1/3 of the division do you think will be splashing £15m on these 2 guys?

Think Swansea were linked with him a couple of years ago for £8-10 million. He was playing every week and had his best season and had 3 years left on his contract with Pigs getting to the playoffs. Cannot see how his value has increased as form has dropped, had more injuries and has 12 months left on his contract and they are up shit creek with FFP

If there's no market for him, then he'll be staying put. There is absolutely no way Brentford will be selling him for less than £15m, but more likely it'll be closer to £20m or more if there's a couple of teams in for him.

Two years ago Forestieri was unplayable at times, albeit in the Championship. Last two seasons though he seems to be injured a lot and not as consistent but that might be more due to Wednesday's tactics. I'd rather Canos from Brentford if we're going for a foreign number 10 that plays in this country.

On the other hand, it would be funny if Forestieri came and did brilliantly! I would imagine the fee for him wouldn't be that high, certainly nowhere near £14m, and that might be why we're interested if there is a bargain to be had here. Under £8m and it might be a goer, but stlll can't see it.

Brentford sell one player (sometimes more) every year to balance their books. It is part of their philosophy .

If we were the only bidder at £8-10m we shall see what happens.

Agree to disagree and leave it here

Fair enough. I fear it will be a long, and ultimately disappointing summer for you though.

Argy bargy over forest fairy?
My understanding was that he was unsettled by players being brought in on wages far greater than his. And this made him feel that his worth to the team was being under-valued, making him feel disrespected. The guy has been one of the hardest working and productive players on the pitch when he is on song.

Don't know if CW is interested or not, but should string Wednesday along for as long as he can. Let Bruce have a taste of his own medicine for stringing us along with Hogan at the begining of the season.

If he got 15 goals for us next season and kept us in the Prem, even if he cost £5-7M. Would that be a shrewd deal?

He does go missing and he gets strop on and he gets ‘injured’ but that can be managed (Leon,Dids,Duffs)

Also the Piggery would light up with incandescent rage!!

He's only got 15 goals once (precisely) at Championship level in his career. He'll be thirty in January.

Hopefully not, what’s he actually done in the last 3 seasons in a league lower than we’ll be playing in next season?

Lazy journalism or Cabbage Head trying to drum up some interest in him. If we could get him for £2/3 million ( which is probably what he's worth ) then maybe.
