Personally, i'd stick with this management team regardless of results next year as it seems to have a vision for the medium / long term that would be great for this club. Wilder is only 51, which means he's still learning his trade really.

I'd have CW/AK on a rolling 2 year contract if I were the blades. Avoids a cliff edge, gives them both security but not for a stupid period and gives the club a bit of protection as well.

What the mouth breathers need to remember, and I've said it many times is Chris and Alan , before last season had not managed above league one, so the first season in the championship was a steep learning curve, one which after the first few games they did admirabley, the second season in the championship, having learnt valuable lessons and utilising that knowledge well, gained a deserved promotion to the premier league.
I'd say if we stay up by the skin of our teeth, mid table or even relegated, the management team will have learnt and bring the blades back the following season, stronger and better equipped to stabilise the club in the prem, from never managing above league one to managing against the best in Europe, is a huge feat in itself.
Give them time.

Agree with your first statement - even in the fantastic season we've just had, anything other than 3 points causes some folks on here to start having a pop and criticising him. It's going to be really interesting next season when we go on a little winless run - which I'm sure we will. I'm bracing myself for..."the job's too big for Wilder" and "he's taken us as far as he can" and "he's a good manager in the Championship and lower leagues, but not the Prem". Oh yes, we will see ALL of these criticisms and more next season - you can guarantee it.

I don't agree with your last statement though: "he's still learning his trade". Still learning his trade? Show me another manager in the football league that has more experience of managing football teams than Wilder? He's done it from pub league, through non-league and professional league, all the way to the Premiership. Possibly what you meant to say was that, at 51, he's still got many years of football management ahead of him - now that I'd agree with.

I'd like to see us stick with a management team for several years. It used to be the case back in the 1970's when I first started watching football. Some of the managers back then were with clubs for donkey's years. Like John Lyall at West Ham, Bill Nicholson at Spurs, Bertie Mee at Arsenal, Bill Shankly at Liverpool, Matt Busby at Man United, it didn't do these clubs any harm to stick with a manager for a good period of time. It's really only in recent years that it seems to have become a good idea to cull managers after just a few weeks in the job.

Football managers are like partners. If you've got a good one, bloody well appreciate it and look after them!

I have no doubt that CW/AK will rise to the challenge of the Premier league we heard all the predictions when we were promoted to the championship ............... down by xmas blah blah, none of it happened. Not to say we get it right all the time but our management team are learners and we tweak things and bounce back. The same will happen next season it will be a steep learning curve but we will adapt and survive and maybe shock a few on the way.

I think the two of you are saying the same thing really.

Chris always says that we have to continually be improving. By ‘we’ I take him to mean everyone and everything at the club.
He’s already said we need to improve the group of players and the training facilities.
I don’t think he excludes himself and AK from needing to improve as well. In that way he will have many years of football management ahead of him.

what I meant was that he's inexperienced at these top levels and that he'll probably improve further. He's certainly made better decisions this year. Next year is his first in the Premier league and I'm sure he'll learn some more. It's not meant to be a critisism
