Our 'organised chaos in the prem'

just wondered what people's thoughts are on how our style of play will shape up in the prem, i've seen us up there a few times and never looked forward to it more, i guess because the club finally has a style that is pleasing on the eye, knowing that whatever happens we will be good to watch, under Bassett we did well but the football was direct, still exciting but direct, and we all know what happened under Warnock, I cant wait to see how the system does in the prem, i honestly do think we will catch a few teams out but i see a lot of positives and negatives with it at a higher standard, i think we will shock a few, a lot of the teams form 7th down will struggle with it, some of them will still beat us but i think we will take our fair share of points off them, and both home and away, i've heard lots of pundits saying we will shock teams at home, but i'ts just as effective away from home, and i can see us picking points up on the road too, obviously then we come to the big guns, and while i would love us to play 'our' way against them i'm not sure it will be possible, i fear the sides with the really classy attacking options would pick us off too often, we have got away with leaving Egan and Norwood back at times last season and they have coped well, but it will be a different ball game when the 2 breaking at them are Salah and Mane or Sterling and Aguero, so i wonder how we will cope, what our genius management team will come up with, we are going to need a 'plan B' more than ever before, and i can't wait to see just how good Wilder and Knill really are at mixing it with the big boys, a lot of course will depend on recruitment, but i just cannot wait for it to come round, come what may we will give it a damn good go of that i am certain, as said in an interview i can't remember by which player, teams have tried to match formation with us and failed, simply because we are better than them at it, so i suppose the question could also be how the hell are they going to cope with US!!!!!

For me it’s the added ingredient this time around and it will be fascinating. Don’t think pep or Klop will lose too much sleep but the likes of dyche, woy and Benitez probably will make adjustments, especially the latter who enjoys the tactical side above everything else. There are three tiers / groups of teams in the Prem and we need to play Tuftyball against the second and third of those 3 tiers.
Last time we were there under Warnock it was our away points tally that really did for us. In Wilder and Knill we have a way of playing that could gain more points on the road and that would be the key to staying up. I'm convinced we will surprise teams. Also convinced we will tek some reyt hammerings on the way.

then there is 7th prem to mid table champs and bottom 15 of the champs
we’re in the second league.. i don’t fear anyone in this league.. forest, derby and bristol are interchangeable with palace, newcastle, brighton ie cannon fodder for the top 6
i think we’ll do ok.. Neil bottled it a bit i can’t see Wilder/Knill doing the same

Agree with that.
Biggest difference for me is that if we are overloading in attack and lose the ball in or around their box, many of the Prem teams will tear us apart and have the ball in the net in two or three passes. One of the biggest differences for me is the quality of the finishing. Top players take their chances. We won’t get many per game so a finisher is an essential buy along with another playmaker in midfield.
Only other issue is fitness, if we’re honest, the tempo we play at has been hard to maintain for 90 minutes and the last 20 are going to be tough as teams keep coming at us.
For all that, I have absolute faith that Tufty will have a plan. As others have said, I’m not fearful, just looking forward to the ride. UTB

And Sterling trying to put the skids under Basham’s Bambi on ice forays forward.
Rashford would be rash to leave Baldock unattended.or Freeman as the free man.

However good the other teams are at counter-attacking, they will still have the same dilemma of being forced to track our overloads or leaving them unmarked. And with potentially better final balls into the box from better players, we should create an even greater number of high quality chances.

Our system has already been adjusted so that we only throw one centre back forward at a time now. I’d like to see us continue with that as it’s still a unique way of playing that other teams won’t be used to defending against

Warnock was there for warnock and his ego would would rather try handle an away loss playing (and ultimately struggling) defensively..

Wilder & Knill on the other hand will prepare significantly for each and every game and assess how best to attack,, when to break,, when to committ our cb's forward and when to make defensive changes.. Give us 4-5 games to work it all out and think we'll surprise a few people

Think we have to be, we’ll probably need to get a couple of wingers in so we have a plan B or maybe that’ll be the new style.

The speed the ball will be shifted from back to front in the Prem will be much quicker and with less mistakes, so we’ll definitely need to be a bit more rigid I would have thought.

agree i don’t reckon Wilder will go with the intention of fourth from bottom as Neil did.. it’s not in his MO ..that's how you get relegated

I think it'll do well, I was a bit sceptical the way last season finished and thought we'd got sussed a bit but this season has shown that the majority of teams still can't cope with it. It will, though, leave us wide open and the better teams will love playing asgainst it. As other have said, we need more pace in the team going forwards and a 'minder' in midfield.

We have already adapted our style massively since the league one days. I believe it was after the 4-5 vs Fulham last season.

As previously mentioned there is more balance going forward with only one CB going forward at any one time (during open play). However I think our biggest change has been defensively.

In the oppositions third we press relentlessly with both strikers, Duffy and sometimes one of the wing backs. If the opposition pass their way out of their third we drop back into a low block (think Burnley). I think this is why we are seeing more blocks from the back 3. Fleck and Norwood (plus Dowell if he is playing) patrol from 18-25 yards. I may be incorrect with this but it feels like this season we have conceded less long shots than last season and I believe this is why.

I am sure there will be a few tactical changes against the top 6 next season but I would expect the same sort of style. Sit deep, win the ball and counter attack (CB included).

Lots has been said over the past week about our style of play.

It seems it was introduced to overcome teams in league one who'd arrived at the Lane to 'park the bus'.

Not sure how many teams we are going to come up against in the Premier league that will be adopting a similar tactic.

We need to have an array of well rehearsed set pieces in our armory that can get us some goals.

I can see Alan Knill working very closely with Ollie Norwood in perfecting this.
