Warning - casual racism alert

May be summat to do with Egan, Stevens & McGoldrick (& Norwood) !!!

How is "spud" racist? I always thought it was a play on the word "Spurs" like the pigs call us "Blunts". I don't see the offense but please explain.

Now if he had said "Yid", I would understand because that is classed as an offensive term... Even though that is also up for continual debate

I watched the match in a pub and there were a group of Leicester fans there. They were all chuffed for us at the final whistle and full of praise, saying that Wilder is a welcome breath of fresh air and that we've shown everyone that money isn't the be all and end all in football, and that signing big name foreigners isn't always the right option. They were very impressed with our squad being British and Irish.

An Ipswich fan congratulated me after the match saying how much he enjoyed watching us go up and hopes Ipswich can copy us next season in terms of signing players who care about the club and each other.

Derby fans have all been congratulatory, however, Forest fans that I've met have been hit and miss. Some congratulatory, others deluded, believing it would have been them but for x, y and z and they'll replace us next season. They can't understand how it's been done when they've spent more than us. I like to remind them that they've been out of the Premiership for 20 years and the only time they came close to getting back they were beaten by us, and that they only finished 6th that season, so way off automatic promotion. So no, they won't replace us next season because they'll have sacked O'Neill by Christmas. Other Forest fans have been more complementary.

I work with a Leeds fan who took the loss of promotion well and was full of praise for the football we play and Wilder's achievements.

The pig at work has finally piped up, saying that he can't respect me as I was all doom and gloom after the Millwall match, which has some truth to it as I wasn't in the best mood. I told him that I was indeed a little gloomy, as we seemed to have blown automatic promotion at that point. I also told him that the pork weren't going to be far off the Premier League next season, and he grinned until I continued with "By about four fucking miles to Bramall Lane" at which point he told me to fuck off. :D

The pig father-in-law is a reasonable chap, and he congratulated me, after a half hearted attempt to run me over with his Discovery. :D

Having lived in Ireland for years, I think if I called someone a Spud they'd look at me gone out.

Someone people just like to find anything in nothing.

This morning a pig asked me if I’d rather have Fleck, Norwood and Duffy (he’s learned their names now) or Gundogan, De Bruyne and Silva (also learned that Bannan, Hutchinson and Forestieri aren’t fit to lace our lads’ boots).

The answer I gave was it would depend on the assessment from Chris Wilder, Alan Knill and Paul Mitchell of their attitudes and the usual checklist.

:D

I took an Egyptian guy, on his first vacation in the UK, to his first ever football game in the UK when we played Millwall.
He’s a Liverpool fan (told me that due to Mo Sala Liverpool have millions of fans in his country) but couldn’t get a ticket.

His comments about our team were we pass the ball well but our attacks are too slow and we hesitate putting in crosses.
He commented that the one player that impressed him was our number 21, said he’s a really good player and he likes him.
He was talking about Mark Duffy.......he’s what’sapped me this week to congratulate us and said he’ll try to visit the UK next season if I can get him a ticket for the Liverpool match.....told him it’s unlikely as tickets will be in massive demand next season.

Had a Chelsea fan who's a work colleague congratulate me on Saturday, and also a Portland Timbers fan and LA FC fan

I was out last night with a crowd which included six Leeds United followers, I won't call them fans. Only one, a woman, seemed genuinely pleased we'd gone up. All the rest never said a single word about football, even though every week before yesterday we always talk football and both of our chances. Wankers.

I live in Todmorden but often go out with my mates who are Huddersfield Town fans. They have been rooting for us all season. They just loved it when we won at least and were desperate for us to beat Ipswich. As my mate put I work with loads of Leeds scum who took great delight at Town going down, they are all getting it big style tomorrow we are very popular in Hudds and Bradford and Wilder is King

had quite a few messages from Sturm Graz fans i know in Austria and some from the Rangers lads i worked with in Scotland recently

Nice one. We've got quite a cult following down here in south Styria, especially with St Nikolai im Sausal (non league) fans. Took a minibus load to Wigan at home this season.

The pig at work has been very quiet, but apparently his weekend's misery was compounded by splitting up with his girlfriend of 9 years, so I am yet to twist the knife properly. :D[/QUOTE]

Ha ha!

"Its only a game darling, calm down, it's not even your team"

Our lass took a very dim view when I jumped up in celebration of forresiary's pelanty miss too.

First thing Monday morning my neighbor (Mackem) said "I bet you had a good weekend?"....

I’m in Manchester and a number of the lads at work have made a point of mentioning it, especially the foreign lads. But just in case others don’t know I’m making sure they Ask.

Hung this from the window above the entrance at work too just to make sure they get the picture

So in summation, the fans of clubs like Millwall, Bristol City, Coventry etc. etc. are pleased for us because they realise that it could be their team overcoming all the odds, media bias etc. one day.

Fans of clubs like Leeds and Wednesday are pissed off because they thought it should be them instead of us. They're both massive and the PL are dying to see them 'back where they belong'. They've heard it often enough on Quest and Radio Sheffield, so it must be true.

Contractor came to work this morning, a regular here, a Man Utd fan who is originally from Cork.

It seems every resident or ex-resident of that fine city either knows John Egan or knows a relative. The celebrations of players, fans and management really struck a chord with the Irish. Apparently it was all very typically Irish and wonderful to watch.

We need a new club shop in Cork

Leeds fan said ‘I don’t want to talk to you, you don’t deserve it we battered you at Elland Road’ I said in the middle of a corridor at school, both teachers, so you’re not bitter then

You should have replied that we battered them at the Lane and they only scored due to a late goal keeping blunder.
They stole the 3 points that day, so it’s evened itself out.
Also could have said that for all their domination at Elland Road, we had all the best scoring chances from our rare attacks.
Leeds hardly had a single shot on target, which is really poor.

Don't think they had a single shot on target actually.

As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, I was at The Oval yesterday where a few people know I’m a Blade. A couple of Palace fans were very pleased we’d gone up as “we’re a proper club”. A QPR fan was waiting to congratulate me and was even more delighted as we’d stopped “fucking leeds” from going up as well.
Most of the regulars were missing but have been rooting for us some saying Bramall Lane is their favourite away game.
The resident Arse fan was pleased as it meant six points in the bag for them and reckons Premier League forwards will be licking their lips at the prospect of ripping Norwich apart with their leaky defence.

I’ve had congrats from .... Rangers, Ajax, Villa, Hammer and a Leeds fan as we had been at each other for the past couple of months. After Easter weekend he’d fully chucked the towel in !

UTB.

Don't expect credit from all the jealous fuckers. As Roys view from posts tell you, nobody likes us and I like it that way.

I work with a lifelong Man City fan, and she's really pleased for us. Also a Norwich fan who's been fine. I work in Barnsley and a bloke I know who's a season ticket holder at Oakwell was also happy for us (my experience is that people living in "real Barnsley" as opposed to Penistone area who identify with north Sheffield, are less Wendy inclined than some on here think).
The best was from my ex-boss in Sheffield, who's a lifelong Wendy. He phoned me especially to offer congratulations. This wasn't a pisstake, Paul is a genuinely lovely bloke who misguidedly picked the wrong team as a kid and just stuck with them. Unusually, he's not deluded, just long-suffering! I don't think he's the only one, but he's the only one I know!
