I've just got back from the pub where I was watching Swindon 5-5 Blades in the playoff second leg.

Remember that?

Were you there?

It was interesting to see folks like Coutts, Bash and Freeman out there being terrible.

But to be fair, we have come a long way since then!

McEveley as captain? Bloody hell!!

I was there and seem to recall a jug eared youngster coming off the bench and scoring the equaliser I think. Wonder where he is now.

This is possibly the most incredible perspective for me.

We were atrocious, we were hopeless, the club was fucked, with Clough serving up such garbage, and most fans lapping it up.

It seemed like a loooooong road back to any sort of respectability.

There aren't really any more words, but on that journey back from Swindon on that hideous night the thought of promotion to the PL just 4 years later would have been completely laughable. I can still barely get my head around it.

I couldnt get a ticket, but am glad i didnt. Reports say lots of trouble from Swindon fans winding up blades fans.

I was there and I have to say that if Bash wasn’t playing, it could have been 5-0.

He was the one geeing everyone up/yelling that what was happening wasn’t good enough. Couldn’t tell which. Scored a belting diving header as well.

Makes you wonder where we will be in four years time, doesn't it.

I walked out when Swindon got the 3rd. Absolute garbage. The only players with any credit that day were bash and jug ears

What a bizarre match.

Best part was at 3-1 when we started singing "3-0 and you fucked it up".

The home performance was awful, Dan Burn ran us ragged and we never marked him or put him under pressure
Terrible management by Clough that night

Feels like a bad decision by the ref, ie giving a foul against Adams rather than allowing us to go 6-5 up, may ultimately have proved our salvation! Its a funny old world....

By the time we’d gone 3-0 down, I’d never felt so disconnected from the club. I don’t think I reacted to any of our goals that night. The years in League One had sucked the life out of me and this was before the Adkins season.

Fast forward to today...wow.

The only trouble I recall was after the final whistle when some Swindon fans ran onto the pitch, celebrated in front of the Blades fans and caused mayhem for a few minutes. Not the most sensible pitch invasion under the circumstances!

I was there, stormed out after 3rd went in then couldn't get back in when we scored so had to find a pub to watch it in.

I was watching at home. Weren't we 3 nil down in about 20 minutes or something?

A bonkers finale which is probably why I just laughed at FT.

Add it to the other list of league 1 horrors and oddities.....

Premier Inn gate, being 3-0 up in a penalty shoot out and still losing a play off final, the Yeovil play off defeat, the Keith Stroud special, Jacob Esan, David Weir, Marlon King, most of Nigel Clough, Nigel Adkins, always losing to Walsall......we've been through it alright in recent years.

I will always recall seeing Clough with his head in his hands as we went 3-0 down. It was such bad management how we had got to the stage where in a play off semi we had Alcock and McEverley as centre halves.

And where are Swindon and Yeovil now, how times change in the space of a few years
Looked like a million miles away looking back to those times, we were desperately bad

But the die was cast in the first leg - a 1-2 home loss on 7/5/15 - when referee Darren Bond ignored an outrageous handball as Swindon defended the the Bramall Lane end.
