Ground extentions/Renovations

Part of me agrees with you but there’s that saying “speculate to accumulate”.’
For we know we could become a permanent fixture in the PL for 10+ years.’
Some might say we have a fantastic opportunity to build up the fanbase so we’re averaging 35-40K every season.

I’m sat on the fence regards the double tier South stand. It’s what they have at Leeds and Cardiff. They also had that look at Old Trafford too. In the perfect world we should do something with the small John Street stand to give it some symmetry
But the new expansion plans still look superb.

If we were in the prem for 10 years then yes do the south stand
But for me it would make the ground look daft and the best think about Bramall Lane is that it looks amazing do the kop it would look nicer

We do at this exact moment but when hopefully not where next in the championship we’d have 15k seats empty seats that would be embarrassing.
Do the kop which should take it to 35/36 which is probs the perfect capacity.

Also I think putting another tier on the south stand would make the ground look stupid. Like elland road just having one big fuck off stand
Completely true, but we’ve got to be planning for success, not failure. Otherwise what’s the point?

I hope the PL(If we get there)give em a right toe up their arse and tell em, the English Premier League is no place for a lop sided, concrete covered spoil heap with poor seating, restricted views and outdoor concourse facilities.
In my view the Kop has to be brought up to 2019 standards before we even consider the south stand.

In pure financial terms it makes much more sense to do the SS first and then the Kop if needed. At the moment the SS sells out majority of weeks whereas the Kop very rarely does. Also with the Prem in mind we'd be very short on boxes.

Agreed but we should at least wait a few years and the kop has to be done first.

I think the south stand was only planned for a possible World Cup. But that may be back on for 2030 so who knows

If we get to the PL!
I would imagine a new owner would have an eye on expanding the ground as eventually England will get the World Cup, the new owner would want a piece of that.

Likelihood of any future World Cups being in a single country going forward are incredibly slim. I’d think our next bid will be a UK&I bid so we won’t get a look in.

But wouldn’t your suggestion seem like financial madness, even financial suicide?

These are just estimates
Option 1
Why spend 500 million (half the cost of the Spurs stadium) to have a superb 45K stadium plus seriously pissing off 1000’s of fans due to relocation to S6, Rotherham or further afield.

Option 2
When we can spend a fraction, say 80 million for an excellent 42K stadium, with no relocation or capacity reduction whilst work is being done issues.

If you put this 2 options to the panel on Dragons Den. I know which one they’d choose.

We stay where we are!
And why would it cost £500m to expand the south stand and build a new Kop?
The cost is always done like a mortgage on future revenues.
New Kop...£30m...expand South Stand...£30m. And I think that’s high!
You do one stand first then the other depending on being Premier league.

What I’m saying is the Kop needs sorting regardless of premier league football.

Being able to have a piss and a pint and get back to a decent unobstructed seat before the start of the second half would be brilliant, but the first outlay will probably be to satisfy prem league "requirements" which as the rabble down the road to me found out a few seasons ago, have changed since we last graced it.

So hold on to your hats and enjoy....

LED floodlights capable of doing a " lightshow"
New SKY studio
Enhanced "media" facilities

Benefit to th ordinary fan?..... Eff all

I don't know, I'm looking forward to the light show already!

Goodison Park? Have you ever been? The place is an absolute shit hole! It’s no surprise they have been looking to leave for decades.

What do you think Spurs fans think of their new stadium? I bet there isn’t a single Spurs fan that wishes they had kept the old White Hart Lane.

It’s all about the design, if we build a crap Leicester style bowl then no, but I’m sure a decent architect could come up with something that could help create a great look and atmosphere.

I guess we should have never got rid of the cricket at the Lane either?
A mini Dortmund copy would be perfect, none of this bowl rubbish!

With the present Mayor being a Blade , we need to get approval , sharpish , to build out over Bramall Lane , creating a tunnel for the road to run through , under a new 2-tier stand at that end - it's the easiest extension to do , without affecting present capacity. This is what Man Utd did at the back of the old United Road stand - mind you , Manchester has a forward thinking entrepreneurial Council , not like ours which has previously consisted of a stubborn bunch of pig-fans. We definitely do NOT want a cheap add-on at the back of the Kop which is too shallow rake. The whole Kop needs re-hashing , steeper rake , with huge catering facilities underneath , if it's gonna be done at all. Better to do the more radical Bramall Lane idea , or failing that , the existing South Stand , which at least has a steep enough rake to be left as is , when it forms the bottom tier of that side.

stolen unashamedly from London Blade :

An alternative (probable high cost) option would be to NOT build flats behind the kop.. rebuild the kop further back and build corners to integrate into it from John St & The South Stand. Then rebuild the away end forward... and maybe integrate it into the same stands. Effectively shifting the ground towards Shoreham St.

We have a huge amount of land but a pitch whose length is trapped by BL at one end and a crap Kop at the other.
We can't turn the ground through 90 degrees , so the obvious thing to do is extend the BL end backwards across the road or chope the first 20 rows off the Kop and shift the pitch towards Shoreham St.

I tend to think that any major developments should be carried out if and when we are a 'permanent member' of the Prem.

I would do it in this order:

KOP and fill in the corners properly (in 3-4 years)
South Stand (in 4-5 years)
John Street - to reflect the South Stand as much as possible (would be a good rake in 5-6 years)

This would obviously be dependant on staying up there - unless some MEGA rich owners appear from over the horizon

TIS an exciting time to be a Blade - Wendy on the other hand :p:p:p

Moving the Kop and pitch back as far as possible is a good shout. Costly mind!

Some of the suggestions on here are commercial stupidity, so wont happen.
Any suggestion must have a sound business case.

But i’ll join in the spirit
Let’s clear the site and build a smaller version of Real Madrids ground, lets say 60,000 capacity, that should be enough for when England’s get the World Cup, we could also apply for a future Champions League final too.
It would be ace.

EA Sports should bring out a ‘Premier League Chairman’ game. Where you have to pick managers, develop your stadium etc. Then get messages like ‘your key midfielder has broken his leg, the manager is requesting more funds’ and ‘your jute mill has leaked and you’ve lost all your disposable cash’.

Kop is obviously the main issue.

It needs knocking down.

What I'd do is roof off, pillars out and knock the back off it, about half of it, and build back to front.

Essentially for a while we'd have a two tiered Kop, the top part which has been built back to front with the cantilever roof and a proper rake on it, with catering facilities and covered concourses in it; and the bottom half which would be the existing Kop, people would have to enter at the bottom and walk up obviously. Ideally it'd be done in the off season and not impact the season much, but we'd lose 5K or so if not.

At the end of a season the bottom half gets ripped out and completed to match and meet the rake of the top part.

The Pukka Pie Corner should be integrated into the Kop, not John Street, and in that corner there should be some studios for TV. The view from that corner is the most impressive I'd imagine for TV people.

Overall an increased rake would put a few thousand on the Kop attendance with the same footprint, so they can still have their flats behind it.

Could an upper tier be put on the John St if we relocated the boxes to a new kop or south stand?

I'ms sure I read somewhere that the John Street can't be made bigger because of the houses behind it being so close so it would block light or some malarkey?
