Can anyone explain, at the club what is going on with the Bramall Lane upper tier exits?

On Saturday we were told please use the two at either side as the exits inside the stand would be shut even tho exits inside the stand we’re clearly open ?
Why do they tell us this ?

Also what happened to the forest fans been kept in for ten minutes ? Even tho they were Clearly let straight out
There was plenty of trouble around the car park is it too much like common sense to keep away fans in and let home fans disperse

Suppose that’s SYP tho so should be expected

You can only ask fans to wait at the end, not make them.
Most, including Blades at away games ignore the request.

There is no power to hold away fans in if they don't wish.

We can tell them to, doesn't mean they have to adhere to the directive. If they wanna leave, the stewards are powerless to stop 'em.

So the fans who got pelted with coins etc whilst kettled at Hillsborough could have left if they had wanted to?

Hang on. We’ve been corralled at Leppings Lane by SYP the last two seasons. SO they can’t stop us leaving but they stop us leaving.

Yeah it confused me too about the exits being open. Thought I’d got wrong and misunderstood. Saw some trouble outside the BP station. Don’t know what led up to it but saw a Forest fan smack a 50 odd year old bloke then a younger guy who looked about late twenties. The coppers last I saw were detaining him but don’t think he’d been arrested.

The Forest fan gave both guys a serious wack, wouldn’t be surprised if he did some serious damage.

I hope they are ok. The policing and organisation on the Bramall Lane end after matches really is terrible.

I thought you could hold fans after the end of matches - just not open the exits until opponent fans had cleared. Has something changed?
Also completely confused as to why they give incorrect instructions on how to leave BLUT.

Is the world going mad, or me?

I get that you can’t keep fans in and all that but it’s just baffling that Gary Sinclair has said for the last god knows how many matches that you can ONLY use the steps and the Westfield corner.

But then open the actual exits in the stand

It's an appeal to people to do as suggested. It's been like that for years.

They didn’t give incorrect instruction. They asked fans to use the steps at the front of the BLUT or Westfield corner, quite obviously it stops all the fans spilling out into the middle of BL especially when the away fans are doing exactly the same. They didn’t say you had to, or that it was being enforced, it was a polite request inorder to help an orderly and trouble free dispersal.
The same goes for the Forest fans who they asked to wait for 10 mins. Again, it was very clearly a request.

No, of course not. The police have the power to detain you if they think a breach of the peace will occur. Attempting to forcibly leave would get you arrested for breach of the peace.

Fuck knows what they are doing at BDTBL chucking out time, but it’s certainly not due to lack of police powers.

No all season they have said you can only use the how exits at the side a steward told me there were no exits open Even though there was one 5 yards behind him

Just not the announcements they put over at the last 10 mins then? They 100% definitely haven’t said in every game this season.

I’m fairly sure we were allowed to leave immediately, they just throttled it back to a tiny exit where it was difficult to get through.

OK we clearly hear difference announcement or at least take them to mean different things. “Please use” doesn’t mean “you can only use”, to my understanding.

There’s a by-law in Sheffield that means the police can’t stop anyone leaving the ground even if they wanted to. From the horses mouth that one. Even if it’s for common sense and/or safety of football fans, they can’t do it. Yet they can beat you with bats if they do wish. Shocking organisation.

I suspect they want everybody to leave by the side exits but are unable to close the other exits for H&S.

Saw scrapping around Decathlon & Arundel St , some Forest lads had been acting up on the lead up around the underpass & coppers directed them over the road & not underneath . Some Blades had gathered across the road , so I’m guessing there paths crossed shortly after
