A chip butty, is a butty with chips in.
A chap butty could be a butty with a chap in.
It doesn't describe the 'bread' layers. A heterosexual chap, such as myself would naturally assume the greasy chap to be sandwiched between two hot ladies. Whereas a homosexual chap would possibly assume the 'bread' to be hunky men.
Nothing strange or wrong with either, of course, just how different sexualities may think
