Marvin Johnson stick or twist for next season

Looks ok starting, looks like he can't play football when he comes on as sub. Every touch he had was abysmal, we have player out on loan that's probably better than him.

Their second goal looked to me to be his lack of marking, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

Their third however he just stood and watched as the lad went through, with Egan visibly yelling at him after the goal.

It’s as if he knows the attacking part of our system, but not the defensive.

Gets stick no matter what he does. Nearly created a equalizer at the end when he headed the ball back across the box for Hogan but a defender blocked Hogans header. He didnt cost us the game or the goals. For me as I mentioned on other posts I think the change of formation is far more criminal than anything Johnson did.

What about Steven's then? Who was meant to be playing lcb? That doesn't mean I'm blaming Steven's or slagging him off but seems Johnson gets blamed for it no matter what.

Johnson's cost us too many points, he's a genuine liability. Considering how many minutes he's played and the mistakes he's made in the limited time he's had, I'd rather we gave RND a go if JOC is out. He can't be trusted to help see out a game.

He was not at fault for the loss. Ridiculous to blame him. Blame the two midfield lads who stood off for 90 mins and invited runners or ball after ball into the final third. Not cool to criticise Fleck or Norwood though. Both were shit today.
Agree to an extent, but Johnson wasn't anywhere near the correct position for the goals. Norwood was uncharacteristically poor today

Think you can add basham into this as well for me. Dont think the change of formation suited us at all. Stick to what we know and what works well for us. Why change it in a game where we need to keep ourself in top 2.

Like I said, their second wasn’t clear cut to be his fault but their third he literally stood and watched.

I can only report what I saw, and I don’t recall blaming him solely for the loss.

Absolutely this. Exactly our discussion, during and after the game--though I'm not sure this extends just to the middle of midfield. We surrendered possession, and more importantly space, right across the middle of the park, consistently. Yes we were poor in our third, especially second half, but crikey ... way to put pressure on our defence, Utd!

Wtf has happened to our pressing game?

Really disappointing today.

He’s has had one or two good games but mostly he has been shit.

I'd have put Cranie on for O'Connell, a more direct swap. But that's football if Cranie had made an error I'd have no doubt said why bring him on!

Occasionally he looks useful but sometimes he's an embarrassment of a footballer.

That corner he gave away and then the woeful cross just afterwards were laughable.

Absolute bollocks fleck had a good game Norwood was rubbish every pass an hospital ball or a showboater he should have gone for coutts

I've twisted so much, something's fallen off!

Sad if all folk can do is scapegoat players such as Johnson. I wouldn't have put him on but thought he did OK when he came on. Defo not at fault for any of the goals. Get lifes death eaters.

Agree both had lead in their legs second half. Johnson wasn't at fault for the second as he was left with three players at the back post when three defenders ran towards the man with the ball. He should however have taken Weinman out for the third allowing him to breeze past him. Having said that if someone in midfield had done the same earlier Weinman wouldn't have got to Johnson.
