Fair comment, but his overall record for random violence is pretty poor, so it was no surprise to me that he jumped in with a stupid unecessary lunge.

The bloke is a liability off the pitch and has now proven he is supsect on it.

If it were any other player for us I wouldn't have been quite so harsh even though I'd still be saying how bad a challenge it was. And I think it's only Madine's second red in his career, so it's not like he picks up a lot of reds. The point is, it's another reason to say that you can't rely on Gary Madine. Whether it's because he's got in trouble off the pitch or on the pitch, this is the kind of thing he does.

He's got to do a hell of a lot in our final games to make me think he's worth a long term gamble. It's clear what a good player he can be but if you can't depend on him then he isn't worth the money.

Personally, I'm not over impressed by his overall performances to date, and if we were to get promoted feel we should be looking for better options, probably a couple of young lads from premiership u23 teams that can get some game time and experience. There is also Tyler Smith who may be worth some bench time, after all Billy and Didzy will be unknown quantities in the Prem, and even if successful we need a line of succession for a couple of seasons time.

So you’d object if we took Hudson-Odoi on loan? Eddie Howe has taken a few since promotion, I think the Dutch ex Chelsea youth whose name I can’t recall originally joined them on loan.

I'm amazed that's he not been on Cardiff's bench all season as a plan B. They hardly bang them in for fun. I think he's a great option at any level to have to lump the ball up to and create space in the opposition final third. There's no doubt he would win his fair share of headers against premier league centre backs. Yes they are more positionally and tactically aware but Madine is 6ft4 and athletic. I would be more than happy if we went up and signed him (without breaking the bank) as lets be honest we aren't going to dominate the ball next season should we go up and may have to have a more direct option to get us up the pitch or to try top nick a goal in the last 10 minutes. Not a player to build a team around but still a very useful option.

I know it's a totally different player and again another ex player and dont really like the way he left us for the money but. Would anyone else be interested if we went in for Adam's again? He is playing well at Birmingham at min and scoring goals if he was in our team can see him getting a load. Billy and mcgoldrick work so well together and can see Billy working well with Adam's again Adam's is skillfully and quick and might give us that little bit of flare for the prem if we are to make it. Should be within our budget if we do make it up and as we know he loves to move for the money so a bit of interest at the right price and he might be wanting to go. Cant see wilder doing this though as he openly admits he only wants people that want to be here for the team and Adams proved that wasn't the case but I think it would be a decent signing if it was to happen.

Let me take you to task on this.

I’m not anti Madine. Far from it. I make judgements on what my eyeballs tell me. We all know how good they are .

It’s easy to throw the “ex pig” and “bad boy” label out to divert from the truth of the matter. He hasn’t pulled any trees up as yet in a Blades shirt.

OK, that’s a statement of opinion rather than fact. Fair dinkum.

But can someone PLEASE explain what EXACTLY it is that I am missing with Madines performances that should have me being more positive than I am.

I am looking for SPECIFIC attributes. SPECIFIC positive contributory factors. What is it that he is doing so well, so consistently.

Please don’t insult my intelligence with the usual diatribe that I have previously knocked out of the park when debating the “positive” impacts of the likes of Higdon, Hanson et al.

I rate Madine MUCH higher than the majority of the dross we have previously endured in this vital “target man” type role.

But he simply HAS NOT been at it for us. Not yet anyway. I live in hope !!
