I would imagine Chris and Alan will be just as much plotting how to catch Norwich than worry about being caught by Leeds.
Looking at the remaining fixtures they are incredibly similar for the top three.
I think when you add the placings of the remaining teams to play I had Blades and Norwich at 112 and Leeds at 113. I.e. average team to play is 14th or 14.125 in Leeds' case.
Breaking it down ours seems more grouped together than the other two.
Norwich have both Boro and Villa away. I'd say given the nature of the shake up these are very hard fixtures. They also have a home game against, let's face it, a very unpredictable and currently in form Wednesday.
Both Stoke away and Wigan away, with Agent Leon on parade could also be deemed tricky.
QPR, Reading and Blackburn look to me like routine home wins bit there is certainly enough difficulty there to suggest some daylight may open up. It's just a question of whether we can be ruthless enough to apply enough pressure and take advantage.
The Bristol game is tricky and arguably after such a good showing vs Brighton, Leeds' game with Millwall might not be a gimme. If us and Leeds put these two to bed, it certainly ramps up the pressure on the canaries for their late kick off.
I think by far our hardest game is Preston. It is a real pity Madine is not fit because I think he would have been a good option there. Whilst beating Brentfordolona and Leeds helped to get him out of the cart, I only see that job as fully compete having come out of the next two unscathed.
Leeds having Villa isn't ideal for them and just like Wednesday, a form team pushing for the playoffs or to remain in them could do us a real favour. Those are 2 unpredictable fixtures and dangerous from their side. Millwall also tricky.
Ipswich looks a potential gimme but they will be done by then so you may get a performance.
Otherwise Preston and Birmingham mirror our own fixtures.
It just leaves a late kick off vs Brentford which could be intriguing after we have played Hull and the matter of Wigan at home.
I can't help but see a subplot here. Both have to face Wednesday, both have games against an unpredictable Wigan, with Agent Leon seeking his promotion bonus - he was like a man possessed at Elland Road last year and both have Villa with the ever dangerous Tammy Abraham.
Certainly twists and turns but we have to be buoyed with our defensive solidity - 7 straight clean sheets. 7 straight home clean sheets. 11 clean sheets out of the last 14 with goals only conceded away at Norwich in a draw, away at Villa in a draw that shouldn't have been and the one black spot vs Swansea.
Plenty to be hopeful for.
