James Shield does his best with good relevant questions and despite pushing gets a politicians answer. Not unexpectedly.

Luckily DCC Roberts reads social media so perhaps he'd consider my points on his following words.

If we can do things better, we'll listen and do it.

We'll see.

I'm not going to criticise people on the ground for an easy life.

Apart from some, let's say, "over enthusiastic " policing, the criticism was levelled at the match commander CS Morley, other senior officers/planners
.

If we think we got things wrong, we'll apologise. If we think we got it right, we'll say so.

For the September 2017 game at S6 SYP clearly got it wrong - and lied about the 10000 at Hillsborough Corner - yet Morley described it as "a success" preening on the front page of the Star. If it wasn't for a sargeant laying the law down to Wednesday staff about getting the gates open we wouldn't have been in at half time. Meanwhile a team of higher ranks stood a hundred yards away smugly watching all this unfold.

There's been no apology despite the evidence that overall it was a shambles.

The important thing is to have a conversation with the fans.

Officers from outside the area were much better than SYP in this regard. I didn't see any of them draw their batons either.

Well done toJames and Danny in pushing this.

I hope the police are successful in catching that one of their number who clobbered that fan, shouldn't be too hard what with their resources and a limited number of possible culprits.

"We have a great relationship with the PL and hopefully we'll have a club from Sheffield in it next year"

Na, Na, Na, Na. He's a Blade and he's a Blade

Just to add to ST's questions a few observations on the SYP paying lip service PR exercise.

"There were a couple of options for doing the hold back"

" The downside was you had some Sheffield Wednesday fans throwing missiles into it"

You wouldn't need any options if Sheffield Wednesdays fans were stopped exiting into Leppings Lane from the North Stand. Have you asked SWFC why they did this when last year this didn't happen?

Stop Wednesday fans entering and exiting Leppings Lane and keep them off Vere Road and you stop all the problems of last Monday.

"On Monday Tuesday and Wednesday night games we can minimise people drinking"

"We've seen on week end early kick off games there can be trouble at 1 a.m."

Wrong large numbers of fans took the day or half day off work for last Mondays game so that they could start drinking early. There was trouble on West Street during the day. Many fans drank large quantities before the start of the game. People will find a way to drink whatever day of the week a game is on.

Incidents at 1 a.m. the day following a game are no different to drink related incidents on West Street on a Friday night or at estate pubs. Do you really think Sheffield fans only drink to excess when we play each other? Very weak argument based on a few isolated examples.

Trouble happening is not all drink related. Those looking for trouble on both sides will find it irrespective of drink. You encouraged trouble by allowing both sets of fans onto Vere Road. You encouraged it by allowing both sets of fans to board trams at the Leppings Lane tram stop.

"Why is it different here when other derbies in other cities play at the week end?"

"It comes down to individual circumstances size of force, taxpayers money etc"

Politicians answer. All other police forces around the country have the same issues. You don't seem to be able to provide any reasons other than people drinking which happens everywhere else.

"Are you prepared to listen to fans on this"

"Yes if there are ways suggested we can facilitate week end games without stripping South Yorkshire towns of police"

You're answer suggests you're not prepared to listen already throwing obstacles in the way. Do you strip these towns of police for night games? Do you strip these towns of police when Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, Villa, Millwall all come to town with the risk of trouble? What have the police from Durham been doing at these matches that you've brought in? Why is this different to other police forces who also have to police towns whilst football matches are going on? Why is the Sheffield Derby different from any other high profile match in the region?

Wheres that nice Mr Barraclough gone:).

Imagine either club drawing Ajax or Feyenoord in Europe :D:D:D

Good job that's highly unlikely from SYP 's perspective

MR: We need to have a look. Let's get to the facts. Social media is always an interesting read. The things I'm conscious of it that, on the first read, or if you see a clip of video, it can be out of context. So I prefer to read into the whole thing.

Happy to use social media to tell us everything went well before you've "got to the facts" though.

Why? Why did you have to say that?

Some of us have enough problems sleeping as it is without someone conjuring up nightmare scenarios!
In a way I'd want them in the playoffs! The chance to shut them up once and for all as long as we won the final!

It won’t be too long before everyone is wearing body cameras and everything gets filmed. Then they’ll have to do things properly.

They'll just wear balaclavas and take their numbers off. The men at the top aren't daft you know.
It might help the individuals but it won’t help the force if there’s footage of them getting all Rodney King on a Blade.

Somewhat shockingly, in areas across the world where body cameras are being used, complaints of the public against the police have gone down starkly and complaints of assaulting an officer and resisting arrest have also gone down.

Even weirder is that in cases where such allegations have been made in those areas, the body cameras have occasionally come "loose" and not taken footage at the exact time of the incident.

Scholars remain baffled by this effect, but we could be on to something.

Could someone ask them why they think they are universally despised as being utter shit and not fit for purpose.

Oh and why they have to import Durham pig's to actually police games. Nowt changes with SYP . Reassuringly utter cunts since Orgreave.

You do realise that there could be a different outcome don't you?

They haven't shut up about Boxing day for the last 40 years, how long do you think that they'd go on about it if they beat us in a PO final?

Can’t see them getting in the play-offs and if they do, certainly can’t see them finishing fourth or fifth.

Hope you're right but weirder things have happened in football, and given my over 60 years of following the Blades I tend to fear the worst at all times. :(

Bit retro that, the numbers bit.

For the modern police officer it’s all about the weight of the uniform. They need to be stream lined to effectively do their job. Nowadays they have to carry so much equipment, tasers, cuffs, pepper sprays, etc, and it could slow them down in the performance of their jobs. So it’s important that they get rid of non essential weight like the metal ID numbers off their uniforms, the weight thing appears to so finely balanced that it involves them taking the thin adhesive numbers of their riot helmets as well. ;)
