I heard they were mates so we can assume they still chat
I guess the conversation may be like this
" whats it like at Spurs Kyle"
"Well Kyle flippin borin I dont even make the bench - I miss first team football but the moneys good. Whats it like at BDTBL ?"
" weve lost it abit Killas gone crap Monty and Jamie are out and the moneys crap. Miss you"

So what was the point of selling Naughton? We may have cocked his career and he isnt playing? We saved money on letting the last of Nobsons big wage earners go and didnt need to sell -the lads werent on big wages

I dont blame KB I l blame greedy greedy agents like the one who is messing with Killas head

I know there are probably plenty of other examples but for me Naughton's situation is just a nightmare for him (I obviously am not talking financial) but it is a very sad reflection on football as a whole.

One of the best 20/21 year olds in the country is now in a situation where he is not playing any football.

I think it was suggested that he wanted to sign for Everton but United pushed for the double deal and it is obvious to see why. Naughton would have had a real chance of becoming Everton's right back this term. I know it's up to him to force his way in at Tottenham and we aint got a clue what happens in training but his position appears pretty much hopeless after 4 months.

Naughton didn't have to go anywhere. He took the money, most will say "who can blame him", and now has to suffer the consequences.

United were right to screw the best deal for us they could. I have no sympathy for Naughton, though I wish him well. I'm sure £1M per year for nothing other than keeping fit offers some compensation.

Really feel for Kyle (the first), everytime i`ve seen the prem highlights, most of the goals spurs have conceded & definately their weak link , has been the from the right back position, where Hutton & Corluka initiate cock ups to a fine art.

But they are probably high wage earners, are full internationals & dopey `arry can`t see past this to give one of the best prospects in this position a proper go.

Poor bugger. Get him loaned back quick.

Know entirely what you mean. But there has to be some sympathy for the kid when he is left in a situation where the club want to sell him irrespecticve of any desire he has to stay - if he did have any of course.

I know he was still under contract but if he'd have said to McCabe look I'll sign a new deal for 5k a week because I want to get games under my belt, he'd still have been sold to highest bidder wouldn't he? I feel he was pushed around a bit against his wishes by a combination of United and his agent no doubt. Must stress though SUFC perfectly entitled to squeeze maximum out of it, totally agree. I suppose you are saying that Naughton could simple have refused to sign for Tottenham but is that realistic? Sure this was debated at the time so water under bridge etc.

I think it is a huge shame that he aint playing because he is an outstanding talent even if I felt Tottenham was too big a step up for him.

I've no doubt he's stuck another 10 grand a week on his wages and would have walked to London with lead weights hanging from his balls.

There's no prospect of him turning his back on an extra £10K because he loved us that much. And if he did, just don't sign - and suffer a harsh stare from your exiled chairman for 15 seconds every 2 months.

I have no problem with his actions. Let's just remember that they were money motivated and the consequences are his alone to suffer. And we'd ALL swap places with him.

So clearly given the last bit, we didn't cock his career ;)

Seriously though, I always thought that Everton would have been his better opportunity.

I'm still of the opinion that the £3 Million gotten for Walker was the best part of that deal.

I think he is a decent enough full back at our level, but I don't think he is worth £3 Million nor anywhere near Naughtons level.
Personally I'm still holding out hope of us fluking our way forward and putting a £3 Million bid to get Naughton back.

I wonder if Spurs would let us look at Bale? Eitherway the money gotten by our Turry looks better and better IMHO.

I'm sure in McCabe's interview (somewhere on here?) he stated that we got £4M for Walker and £6M for Kyle.

I'm with you. I think Walker's a decent championship fullback, but at £4M we may have removed their pants.

The main point about Kyle Naughton is that although he had a decent first season he wasn't a first team player long enough to get the affection that another defender who left for a Premier League club did. Namely, one Phil Jagielka. Jags was outstanding for several seasons for us, Naughton had a decent two thirds of a season. And I'd have Jags back over any other ex-player in a heartbeat.

I still want Jags to do well, and I bet I wasn't alone in either cheering him on for England, or feeling sorry for him after his injury. Naughton on the other hand has gone after less than one season playing for the first team, and I'm not really bothered whether he becomes a Spurs stalwart or spends the next ten years getting splinters in his arse from bench warming. I know Naughton is a Blade, but if he was that much of a Blade he could have turned a move down. Unless a player agrees terms then he won't go anywhere.

I'd agree with most of the SV, but did Jags ever turn anyone down to stay with us?

And we'd ALL swap places with him.

I'm way too good for Tottenham mate.

And yes, as said above, we made a killing on Walker, who looked nowhere near as good as Naughton. I firmly believe if it wasnt for Naughton, Walker would not have been sold - he only played about 5 league games so no one would have even heard of him.

I'd agree with most of the SV, but did Jags ever turn anyone down to stay with us?

I've no idea, but Jags at least played at his very best for several seasons and only left after relegation. Naughton went at the first chance he got. Let him bench warm.

How many times....the club needed the money.

Turry "Sorry Kyle, we don't want to lose you but the club need the money and we've agreed a deal with Spurs, go and talk to them"

Kyle "Nah mate, not interested, the club can go find £6 million from elsewhere!"

Turry "Ok me old mucka, I'll just get on the blower to Kev and tell him we're further in the shit."

SV, I think you hit it right on the head with your comments about Jags.

Jags never made any secret of the fact that he wanted to play in the PL and for England. He's an ambitious lad and rightly deserved his call up to England.

The way that Jags handled his ambition whilst at the Blades was commendable and I personally think that he stayed long enough with us to give it a go. His intention was always clear and as SV said, he always, always gave his all for us.

He never went against the club in the hope of a better deal, but I also think the club were fair with him.

I think this is the difference between Jags, Kyle, Kyle and Killa. With the exception of Killa, the others have all come through the ranks so because the club invested in these players, you would've expected them to at least stay another season and not jump ship. But its too late for that now with the Kyles.

Walker did the right thing by coming back to us on loan, he knew his 1st team chances would be limited at Spurs to say the least. Whether he'll make the first team next season is another issue.

As for Naughton, I'm surprised he went to Spurs, Everton would've been a better option for 1st Team, I know a few Evertonians and they'd have loved to have seen him sign for them. In fact they think that we have a decent academy based on Jags!

I can see Naughton going on loan to a relegation club in the PL or to the Championship at Xmas.

I don't begrudge any of the players their chance to play PL or international football, I just think they themselves need to be more realistic.

Wasn't Naughton on Strachan's ideal Boro' teamsheet that was allegedly leaked recently?

Wouldn't be surprised to see him somewhere like that on loan.

Fans demand instant success for their club and to a certain extent expect the same from players. Kyle N played half a season in the CCC and did very, very well and looked a very accomplished player, but based on that people think he can go and command a first team place at one of the top 10 sides in the PL.

As we seem to be making the comparison with Jags, he had several season with us, including one in the PL when he played at a consistently high standard. He'd done enough to prove he had the quality for the PL, Naughton has done enough to show he has the potential for the PL. He may go out on loan, more likely he will stay at Spurs and will be slowly introduced after Christmas when the window opens and a few in front of him are shipped out. He played a good few pre-season games and did very well and Harry was very impressed with him. I've no doubt he's been told to bide his time and he will get his chance.

The offer for the "pair" was just to good to turn down, no championship club would turn down such an offer an the players are well rewarded prospect wise and financially.

I do however have an issue with Killa, holding the club to ranson despite a rumoured £28,000 per week offer from the blades, he like his mentor Brown chuck in a few bad performances add a few "injurys", maybe disrupt the moral of the team and bingo the results slide, they are sold for peanuts.

Rather than pledging loyalty to the club, fans and team mates with 100% effort but coming clean and saying its time for a change am off in January. We would all accept that, even though we preffered they were to stay.

JAGS did it in a correct manner.

While we are talking on the comings and goings and that word loyalty, Dane Whitehouse one club man, a Blade, turned down a number of clubs to stay. He should have earned far more from the game, Monty a legend in my eyes has had offers yet rides out the bad times and always gives100% ...a TRUE BLADE.

I agree, but so did Jags.

Sorry if someone else has already said so, Jagielka kind of turned Wigan down. They came in with an offer and I remember Warnock saying that he talked it through with Jags who agreed to sign a new contract with us with the 4 million stipulation. Up to you whether you think he turned them down or not.

From how I remember it, Wigan asked us how much we wanted, we said £4 million, so they offered £4 million and we turned round and said we wanted £5 million.

That's not how we usually do things. Turry would usually barter them down to 3 million :D

United allegedly negotiated first refusal on ANY of Spurs young players being loaned out. So surely that includes Naugton? With Kilgallon nailed on to leave in January, I would love to see Naughton in a Blades shirt again. Davies could probably then go back and Walker can compete with Fortune for a Centre-back slot.

Like it or not, £10M for Walker and Naughton looks absolutely wonderful financial dealing by the much maligned Mr Robinson.

Yes, you are right having thought about it.

I still think if Jagielka was hell bent on going to Wigan he'd have gone though, but I concede this isn't the same as turning them down directly.

Except Walker's loan deal expires in January.
