Big gamble to play Hogan or big gamble to drop Sharp to play Hogan?
Either way I don't see it as a gamble at all, we should have more than enough quality without Sharp to beat Rovrum & although Hogan hasn't played many games recently he is a good player & this looks the perfect game to give him some pitch time, he will be needed at some point I am sure before seasons end so the more match fit the better for me.

I watched Hogan closely today.

His off the shoulder diagonal running was excellent.

I lost count of the times he had to check runs that he made looking for a little dink pass through that never arrived today.

I agree with others in that today wasn’t the best judgement of what he offers, primarily down to us not really playing to his strength.

We get plenty into the box, so while Madine isn't a natural fit for a lot of our game you can see why he'd be useful (and he has been). It's also easier to adapt.

Learning how to play slide rule through balls isn't something that comes over night. I don't think many of our players have the game to suit Hogan's strengths, such as they are. He also seems to still be carrying that injury to me.

I think we won today despite our forwards, to be honest. McGoldrick did well when he dropped deeper but he's no striker. Getting in behind isn't how we play and I'm not convinced Hogan is up to speed anyway.

I said this before the game.

I think Wilder's got it the wrong way around. He should have played v Brentford instead.

Rotherham left a bit more space behind initially than I thought they might but after the red card that changed and they sat deep.

There were still opportunities to play him in but it was never tried. Playing risky central through balls isn't our style.
