I thought initially it was the right choice to play him tonight, but he was less effective than he has been. McGoldrick affected the game more in his 30 minutes or so than Madine did. In hindsight we should have started McGoldrick and like you say had Madine as an option, but it worked at West Brom.

It's strange because we've played him before and not done that. Better in the second half but first half was loads of hoofing.

Didn't help that Dowell was having a stinker though, feel like that made us play it longer rather than through the middle.

I'll share the "thank fuck that's over sentiment though".

Madine wasn't the problem tonight. He did well with the header, I don't see what else could he have done. Westwood came out and did well. As for Madine going down; each time he did it we won a free kick, minus the won in the box which the ref neshed, or didn't think was enough contact. For me its a pen. When McGoldrick came on we continued ti play it to McGoldrick, as we did Madine, but McGoldrick lost every header. We needed to go longer tonight otherwise its all played in front of Wednesday's banks of four. We couldn't get behind them sadly. Norwood man of the match. Disappointed, but we move on and if we beat Rotherham and Bristol take a point then we'er back second.

Talking purely about tonight I was really disappointed with our approach from minute 1.

Can't remember us setting out to play like that since Oldham away in League 1. And that was due to the state of the pitch.

For a team that always plays to win I felt we showed a little bit of fear tonight.

That said we can't expect to play well every game and an away draw in a derby after a frustrating performance isn't to be sniffed at.

11 points from the last 5 games is a very good return when you look at the bigger picture.

He goes down too easy too often. So when it's genuine it gets ignored. Not the blades way. Stand up and fight, should only be on the floor if you get properly floored.

Madine had a fine game. He was on his arse because otherwise the ref ignored the blatant fouling going on.

Dowell was poor, and as good as Cranie was (great bit of skill to skin his man on the touchline) we needed Duffy.
