Use whichever criteria you like - potential, total achievement, existing raw ability, end product, effectiveness, whatever.

But if a neutral asks who our best player is, who do you say?

Curious as to what the popular opinion is.

Sharp. Just because of what he has done for us basically won us league 1 and then is playing a massive part in getting us to the prem. Fair enough the service has to be there for him but he just keeps putting them away. Give him a chance and I'd fancy him putting it away 9 times out of 10.

Someone asked me this the other day and I said Norwood, then changed my mind between Duffy, Sharp, Fleck, Egan, JOC etc etc. You get my point. Truth is we have a very good group of players, each one as important and valuable as the next.

Toughest it's ever been in my experience. I can't really recall a team where so many play so well in the role they have. Choosing between O'Connell, Duffy, Sharp etc is like asking which supermodel you'd prefer to shag!

The sum is greater than the parts, the interesting question is whether they would do as well individually in other teams.

Given their age, ability etc, I would say JOC is probably our biggest asset if that answers the question :)

We're a well oiled machine, take out any cog and the productivity will suffer.

Our machine also has different operating modes for different styles/standards of opposition.

On that basis I have abstained from the vote.

People will vote Norwood over Fleck but if we go up I know which one is likelier to be replaced.

Partly because of who else we have in the squad but if I was forced to pick one to miss the last 12 games of the season, I'd pick Norwood.

Really? He’d be the last player for me. He’s absolutely central to how we play. Not looking forward to his 2 game ban.

Norwood would be replaced by Coutts, think Fleck would be replaced by Basham or Lundstram. I think it's a bigger drop in quality in the second case.

Hendo on his day is a world beater.

Hendo not on his day is crap, but thankfully he's come on in leaps and bounds since the 10 minute horrorshow at Villa.

Norwood is the best CM in the divison and everything we do right he is involved somewhere.
