Scapegoat implies that they're being blamed for the failings of others. It's been proved that not only were they directly responsible for the deaths at Hillsborough but they lied and in fact tried to scapegoat the fans. More recently, the Rotherham abuse that their incompetence allowed to happen seems to be a valid criticism. Not to mention the ridiculous capacity restrictions we've faced. How exactly are SYP being scapegoated?

They can easily reject a proposal from the club which they consider to be inadequate. For example, fan fires flare into away fans. What you gonna do about that SAG/SYP ask the club? Find the fan and ban him suggest the club. Erm no, reply SAG/SYP. So after several rounds of toing and froing with the ante increasing progressively, the club comes up with OK then, we'll close G&H. OK, that'll do, comes the reply.

In this instance I suggest that the lower tier was open all along and the ticket distribution was to be decided on an ongoing basis depending on home sales. That SAG and SYP had no input is laughable.

SAG asks what measures will be put in place to optimise the separation between the fans before they can sanction this. The club then proposes to net off the first five rows. So its the club's decision and not SAG's. Sort of.

Agree this is nearer the truth. Pigs will say they sold out 3 sides of the ground last year and were then able to sell to their fans in the Lower tier. They were just waiting to see how sales went. Due to there not being sufficient take up the tickets were made available to us. Pigs would probably have had to tell SYP in advance they expected Lower tier to be populated to enable SYP to sort out resources. So if they were paying for the extra Plod they may as well sell tickets to someone.

SYP may not make the decision but they certainly influence them. There were suggestions by our ticket office that they imposed a minimum points requirement for purchase of Derby tickets at the Lane when the Pigs have had no such restrictions for the up and coming game at the Sty. Add to that their interference in non ticket issues in the past such as closing pubs and kettling fans on trams and its hard to believe they had no impact whatsoever on ticket allocations and distribution.

Thats a good question and one that I thought of as I picked up one of the last tickets from the extra 646 allocation yesterday. I'm on row 8.
