With the style of football we play it is truly astonishing how many clean sheets we have kept this season.

At times our back three consists of Hendo, Egan and Norwood, yet we still are so solid defensively. It really is a testament to the work everyone must put in in training and on match day to make this unique system work.

J'oC has missed three consecutive games for the first time in his blades career and we haven't conceded in any of those games. This shows that work is put in, behind the scenes, to make sure we can still operate our system when the inevitable injuries and suspensions hit.

And 3 in 3 without Bash/JOC. Cranie looking rock solid and attacking as per Bash, Stevens is looking shockingly good in JOC's position, Stearman coming in and doing a superb job.

Do Bash & JOC sit on the bench? Can't argue against the make shift back lads in the last 3 games, what to do?.

And zero conceded as well isn’t it?

Wilder has some hard choices to make next Monday.

Yeah, that's what I said, 3 in 3 clean sheets

Can’t see where you said about 3 clean sheets, but in my current happy condition I’m likely to have missed it.

Either way it’s an excellent achievement

Edit: just remembered the title of the thread and now your comment makes more sense. Apologies.

12 clean sheets in the last 16 league games is the key to promotion

A bit of luck in 1 or 2 of those games but overwhelmingly, they have deserved what they have achieved

Henderson and Egan have been huge upgrades, Stevens and Baldock have both improved dramatically this year. Norwood is probably also a factor in screening the back 4 and I think Fleck's role has changed a bit as well, leading to some very unfair criticism at times.

I was thinking this yesterday, as a defensive unit, we’re a nightmare to play against, we look as though we have 14 players on the pitch. When we lose the ball, we contract into a compact bank and close off the space. It’s tactically superb but also requires hard work to consistency put pressure on the ball from multiple angles.
