Talksport have just interviewed Millwalls grey haired striker Steve Morrison about their FA Cup exploits, then they asked him about the Championship. The conversion was

Alan Brazil: The Championship is a great league, who are the best team you’ve played? would you say it was Leeds, they look a good team.

Morrison: Agree Leeds are good but their style suits us so we give them a good game. Styles make a big difference but the best team we’ve played this season would have to be Sheffield United.

Alan Brazil: What about Norwich?

Morrison: Yeh they are good but sometimes you watch tv and see teams playing well but you never really know his good a team is until you actually play them on the pitch. I know Sheffiled United scored their goals late in the game against us but at times we couldn’t get near them. Think Chris Wilder is doing a great job and they’ve been building for 2 years. They changed half their team on Saturday but still won 4-0 which shows the strength of their squad. So they would be my tip to win the league.

Thought it was funny how Alan Brazil asked Steve Morrison a question then tried to answer it for him by suggesting Leeds were the best team. Typical media love in towards Leeds ha.

I’ve posted this because it’s another exampe of just how highly some of the neutrals rate us.

We're still the team everybody expects to drop away.
So called experts and ex players who haven't watched much of us take one look at the budget and just presume we'll fade .

Agree but I thought it was interesting that an experienced player who has played every team says we are the best they’ve played.

Also thought it really interesting that he said “a team might look good on television`’ but it’s only when you actually meet that team on the field of play that you can judge if that team is any good or not.

That clown Alan Brazil wouldn’t be able to name more than five of ours or Norwich’s players, probably the same with Leeds.

TalkSport is the pits of football ‘journalism’ where you can hear top class punditary from legends of the game such as Ally McCoist, Dean Saunders and Adrian Durham.

He can drink 20 pints on a night out though.....and still ......not turn up for work the next day.

How he's still got a job there baffles me, then he'd be on air the following day bragging about how he wasn't in previously because of the session he'd had the day before.

I've also noticed the trend in Roys Pre-Match and Post Match View Froms. Pre-match we are classed as big, strong, powerful and like to hoof it foward. Post match it tends to be we are the best footballing team that the team has faced this season.

That’s funny because it’s true.

Actually in early post match comments, it tended to be ‘that was our worse performance of the season”
They are now realising that we take the game away from opposition teams, so it appears that they are hopeless and playing really poorly. Reading looked like a poor league 1 side on Saturday but apparently in recent games they’ve been playing well.
It’s a pattern that we consistently make teams look poor.

Even the Norwich fans commented that their 2nd half display against us was poor because they were too negative, sitting back defending. They don’t seem to realise that they had no choice because we pinned them back forcing them to defend for long spells.

He’s nowadays mostly just a slice of gammon with eyes.

I don’t set much store by what the ‘experts’ predict, they know very little more than the fans on the terraces.

Running through that lot I reckon they got 4 out of 24 correct - Bolton and Reading, which is hardly evidence of a particularly shiny crystal ball, The Smoggies, but they did lose Traore and with it their ability to be a consistent threat and the other lot from South Barnsley:)

Alan Brazil would be shit as a market researcher. Such a leading question! Needs to consult the MRS code of ethics.

The presenters do this quite a lot, ask a question...then give an answer as a suggestion.

Think it’s because these days many people in the public eye/ players are advised to stay away from controversy so tend to always sit on the fence and don’t name teams or make definitive predictions.

The standard response from Morrison would normally be
‘I’ve been impressed with most of the teams near the top. Don’t think there’s an actual best because it depends how they perform on the day but would put Norwich, Leeds, Sheff Utd and West Brom as the best teams we’ve played and they all have a great chance of promotion”.

Makes a refreshing change for a player to nail his colours to the mass and give an honest opinion.

Heard Bradley Dack say before Xmas that we were the best team he had seen Blackburn play by a long way...said the same as Morison and that they did not know what was going on or who to pick up. Nice to hear.

We're still the team I expect to fall away too. But I think thats reverse phycology or the experience of past disappointments.

Agree, In fairness I like Talksport as it's controversial and sometimes they do have decent discussions. Alan Brazil is like marmite but I'd much rather listen to him and his pack of "Proper Football Men" than the fluffy, lets not offend anyone/anything shit that goes off on 5 Live.

Essentially, if I wan't to listen to some debate on a specific thing with comical shithousery and good ol' fashined views I'll listen to Talksport, if I want to hear what some non-descript PL player puts in their porridge i'll listen to 5 Live.

Loving the 1 'r' in Morison. He's another player who would be incorrectly spelled on an hourly basis if we signed him with Sharpe, Clark, Brookes and McEverley.

The man is an absolute buffoon. Knows more about contracting gout than football.

Adrian Durham is slightly more bearable as his opinions are that over the top and purely for bites you have to chuckle.

I had WBA., Boro, Stoke in that order for my top three at the start of the season.

I had Leeds challenging for the play offs with Forrest

I had us down as around 10th - 15th

Pigs same as us

Rotherham just stopping up

Bottom three of

Ipswich Bolton and Reading.

So looks like I know more about the bottom of the league than top

:)

I do listen a lot while at work, but have you heard it when Vinnie Jones comes on AB's show...what a load of crap...always bigging up Leeds when they mention the Championship aswell, but I've never heard so much rubbish as when they have him on,it's cringeworthy.

You are suffering from Bladey Inferiority Complex.

I used to have the Blades inferiority complex too but I’m very different with Wilders team.
It’s very rare we put in below par performances, we are consistently as Wilder would say “on it”.
Another saying from Wilder is “concentrate on the performance, perform well and the results take care of themselves”

In the past I’d feel nervous going away to rival promotion contenders West Brom and Leeds.
But I’m really looking forward to these games because I know we’ll perform well and more than likely we’ll have spells making West Brom and Leeds look like the away team due to our domination. It’s something to feel proud about and to cherish whilst it lasts.
