I believe he is more lethal now than at any point in his career so far , and long may that career continue ( as a Blade , of course)

At this date (5 Feb) in each season (league goals only):

18/19 Pl 23(5) G 19 Season G
16/17 Pl 30 G 19 Season G 30
06/07 Pl 30 G 19 Season G 30
05/06 Pl 26 G 18 Season G 23

Hope Paul Mitchell will factor this in when he goes scouting!

Theoretical question.

What if Bill had got the England call up last summer, due to an unprecedented rush of injuries and illness to most eligable strikers, would we now be the world cup holders ?

Tongue in cheek
Or what you might expect from the deludeds. If they had such a forrerd
Happy Birthday skipper.

I’ll tell thee this.

It would cost more than £10m to adequately replace him when he does pack it in.

Better start putting a few coins in a BIG glass jar Kev :).

And then some .

20 mill quoted for Maupay .

Sharp's double puts him on 90 league goals for us, 15th all time. Next up - Brian Deane with 93.

He passed Deano this evening. 94 league goals for us. I believe it’s the most he’s ever scored at this level too. Who’s next?

Sharp’s also from my rough estimates outscoring his rate of goals in our last promotion year by quite some margin at the minute. On this date 2 years ago, he’d played 28 games (plus 2 sub) and scored 19 goals. This year he has played 25 games (plus 4 sub), and has 22 goals. It’s quite something.

Arthur Brown is next, with exactly 100.

Feel so sorry for Billy tonight despite his treble.

I don't know how to praise this man anymore.

Words have failed me.

Oi! No positivity allowed on here after that disgraceful point away at Villa...

· Playing under Chris Wilder (110 League appearances), Billy has scored 65 league goals and United have never lost a League game under Wilder when Billy has scored!

· On February 8th, 2019, Billy scored a hat-trick in a 3-3 away draw at Aston Villa. This was the 47th consecutive League game where Sharp had scored and United had not lost (starting at home to Rochdale on 13th Aug. 2016).

· Despite playing in five ‘Sheffield Derbies’, Billy has yet to score in one – or play on the winning side.

· On 27th October 2018, Billy scored a hat-trick in the 3-3 away draw at Aston Villa. This was his third hat-trick for The Blades (3-0 at home to QPR on 16th August, 2008 & 4-2 home win over Wigan Athletic).

· Billy became just the third player to score 200 career goals in English league football this century when he scored twice against former club Leeds in Sheffield United's 2-1 win on Feb. 10, 2018. His first goal in this game came after just 70 seconds and the penalty he scored later in this same game was goal number 201. Since then, he has scored another 25 league goals so his total now stands at 226 (he reached this record-breaking landmark with a goal at Wigan on 1/1/2019). Sharp joins Rickie Lambert (219) and Wayne Rooney (208) in the 21st century 200 club.

· Another Billy Sharp record ended (as records often do) on 22nd December 2018 in a 1-1 draw at Ipswich. Prior to this game, United had won the previous 21 consecutive league games where he had scored. (Starting at home to Bolton on Feb. 25th 2017).

EDIT: Waay too early to be cut & pasting. Should read:

No stats. changed, just minor details.

Another thing to flag the craziness of Sharp’s season – it’s already the most he’s scored at this level. He has previously had 4 seasons where he’s scored over 20 goals, but all were in league 1. His previous record at this level was 15 twice with Donny Rovers (2009-11). All this at 33 years old. It’s been said before, but he really is ageing like a fine wine.

He scored 19 in the Championship in 2011-12.

He scored 19 in the Championship in 2011-12.

Correct – hadn’t spotted the totals from two separate teams.

It remains the first season he’s broken 20 goals at this level. He’s also now equalled Beattie’s total for us in his first season – which I think was the most I’ve seen any player for us score at this level (I’ve been a fan since 1991). The highest scorers for us at this level since then other than Sharp:

Beattie 22 (2007/08)
Clarke 19 (2017/18)
Blake 17 (1994/95)
Marcelo 16 (1998/99)
Brown 16 (2002/03)
Bent 15 (1999/00)
Gray 15 (2004/05)

Most Championship goals (since the second tier was called the Championship)

McCormack 120
Nugent 113
Sharp 108

edit Rhodes is in here somewhere too but I'm not trawling the records to see how many he's scored it's close to what Sharp has and if it's more it'll soon be surpassed.

More than 2 20+ league goal seasons for United:

Harry Johnson 4 (1926-1929)
Jimmy Dunne 4 (1930-1933)
Doc Pace 4 (1959-1962)
Jock Dodds 3 (1936-38)
Keith Edwards 3 (1982, 1984, 1986)
Billy Sharp 3 (2016, 2017, 2019)
Would have been 4 seasons straight had Wilder not had the great sense to pick Mssrs Wilson, Clarke, Donaldson in front of him on WAY too many occasions last year ;)

He rates right up there with our very best Blades legends, and it about time we all recognised it and gave him the credit that he’s due.

People might think I’m exaggerating here or being too ‘bladey’ but his all round game has been Premier league class this season.

For breaking records and doing it in a hard league Billy’s up there with the best including Jock Dodds my grandad’s favourite.
