Tough one.

Chance to go top though.

They are hoping to have Jack Grealish back for the game too.

Do we go with an unchanged team or do we make changes? If so, who?

We last won in the league at Villa in January 1966. We have gone winless in 11 league games there since. This is our second worst current run, behind Bristol Rovers (never won away against them in 12 league games). Of course we won there in the Cup 5 years ago.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Madine start and I wouldn't be against the idea.

What we will see with this game is CW's tactics for the carrying on of a number of very tough away games.

CW went with Mandine and Dowell instead of Duffy & McG against Norwich, with Duffs/McG brought on to change the game in the 2nd half (as they did).

We can't flog the A team all the way to season end.

For me, we have to be smart and play a slightly different way in these tough away games. I would hold the back 3 in their positions and in effect play 3421 formation. We simply cannot be gung-ho in every game, we will just get picked off as many teams have done. They were smart against us - we need to be smarter, which I believe CW & AK have now become after 18 months in this division.

Perhaps it will be Madine and Dowell again. Madine can hold the ball up and did well in the 60 minutes at Norwich - Dowell can run at Villa.

We have to play smart.

Wilder might have shown his intentions last week away at Norwich.

When we have a rough away game we will be doing more defending, so regards counter attacking
Dowell is better than Duffy running with the ball on the break when there’s more space.
Also Madine is a better target man than McGoldrick holding the ball making it stick.

The Norwich away game was successful.
So I reckon we’ll start with Dowell and Madine and save our A game players (Duffy and McGoldrick)for the latter stages when Villa are more tired or he could start with Duffy, then bring on Dowell much earlier on 65 minutes to run at their defence.

The reason why Villa are well down the league is because they are drawing too many games.
They don’t win enough but have lost less matches than us.
Confident of a draw but 3 points at VP will be really tough, so I predict a 1-1 draw.

We should be going into this game confident of a win. They are in poor form with only one win in the last six league games and that was against a dire Ipswich team. They have some excellent individuals but don't seem to perform as a team. If we keep them quiet first 30 minutes their fans will start to get on the players backs and that will play into our hands.

I might throw in a curve ball. Madine for Duffy and playing Mcgoldrick in the hole. If we go long we can get sharp and mcgoldrick on the knock downs

I'm OK with starting the same XI. Firstly they're nothing special and we've got a better team than them this year. Secondly we've got tactical options to bring off the bench which we didn't have before. Therefore let Villa figure out how they're going to accommodate us, not the other way round because its them who are going to be on the end of a beating if they don't.

If we can get an early goal they could be there for the taking.
If. The small word with very big implications.

Is Basham suspended? I read somewhere that he's reached 10 yellow cards for the season.

Villa’s form isn’t that poor.

Agree they don’t win many but
Only 1 defeat in their last 7 league games and
Only 2 defeats in their last 15 league games.

Many of their recent matches have been draws.

Won't get a better chance to win at Villa.

It's about time we won a game like this, we need to be to have any chance of getting in the top 2.

Madine in for McGoldrick for me, but otherwise unchanged.

Christ, how many curve balls do you have?

Not confidently expecting to win every away game?

Only in S2!

Yer doffing bastards.

We also hadn't done the double over Bolton since 1945!
