When Blackwell goes, we need a stronger personality at the helm.
We also need a manager the players respect and trust because it's plain they don't believe in Blackwell.
We may have lost players but we should not be in the position we currently are.
Interesting to see that Gibson's made his move at Middlesbrough. Over to you McCabe and let's have no more bull. Time to get a grip of the club now.

well most united fans hated warnock then robson and now blackwell

so i dont fancy the next blokes chances

I couldn't stand Warnock but he had the strength of personality needed for the job.
But it doesn't necessarily mean we need someone who shouts, jumps up and down and is all over the media but it has to be someone who has strong convictions about how he wants his team to play and can communicate that to the players.
We cannot allow ourselves to carry on in a situation where we have players on very good money, with lots of experience (despite the McCabe bull about age) producing sub-standard performances week in, week out.

the fans hated warnock because he played hoofball and constantly brought the reputation of the club into disrepute on tv.. robson because he was totally incompetent and blackwell because he plays one dimensional football which is horrific to watch and a total embarassment to anyone connected with the club.. it has nothing to do with the fans.. if you serve up half decent fare someone could be a god here.

Let me just say this, cheap as chips might be crap but McWobblegob appointed him.

I blame McCabe, my opinion is he was just about to sell before the credit munch hit, now its asset strip and sell when the market comes back.

a team of fu(kwits and loan players bar a couple ......pathetic!

By jove I think he's got it! I couldn't agree more, I think United fans are ready for a manager we can idolise.

I don't fancy anyone actually wanting to join us at the moment, both playing staff or management.

For a number of reasons, but more than all, the level of abuse they get when the chips are down.

Agree, said the same in a previous thread, however I would say that being "out of work" will probably be a spur to one or two.

We're no different to any other club. Every club boos when the 'chips are down', or more accurately, the team are playing shite.

You make out is only a SUFC thing but it isn't. I wasn't there to witness the scenes you did last night, but I well remember Man City fans giving the players hell after a cup defeat at Blackburn. Boro have booed them off pretty much all season and Benitez copped for some serious last night to name but two more examples.

There is an argument that says is all the Sky generation/reaction to players wages etc etc and I'd say that has merit, but you cannot say it's only us.

I don't know any more than Southgate has been sacked and Boro are 4th, one point off top of the table so forgive me if i'm missing some massive scandal or personal problems with Southgate.

But, Steve Gibson, you are a mug.

Perhaps so, but how many clubs fans this week have squared up to 3/4 members of the playing staff and truely ripped into them?

How many completely ignored the sensible and understanding pleas of the captain?

Just why would Keith Treacy or any of his mates within the game want to sign for us, when he comes on, offers something different and tries to change things, doesn't really put a foot wrong, then is ripped to shreds after the match with fans getting up close and personal?

I completely understand what you are saying and I know that most of it goes off elsewhere too, but it's gone beyond poisonous at the moment, so why would anyone want to come?

I'm not saying we are alone, or different. Merely that anyone talking to any of our players or backroom staff, or just looking on, would surely at the very least think twice?

On the contrary, anyone coming here and turning this mess around would achieve god like status very quickly.

Do you think it's only Sheffield United fans who give the grief when the chips are down? Your talking like this is the first time in history a manager is getting grief. I think he is getting it quite easy considering.

Personally I can't stand Blackwell and most of all the crap football he persists with. It's ok keeping clean sheets and nicking games last year, but not many teams are keeping clean sheets this season..look at the premier for example. Goals galore... So Blackwell should have moved us on.. He hasn't and doesn't have the capability to do it..

Robson didn't hide in the dugout when the boos came. Ask Blackwell where he was against Ipswich when the boo's started. In the dug out and never came out again and let his team take it.. If you ask a few members of the playing staff you might find out he lost the players for many reasons that night

I really wish people would actually read my posts :)

yes booing at liverpool last night apparently, maybe rafael benitez will be unemployed soon, rafa for the lane anyone?? ;)

Give over Foxy, players are mainly motivated by money and there are plenty out there who would be delighted to get the kind of money paid out at Bramall Lane.
As much as Blackwell clearly can't motivate or manage the team, it's about time some of those players stood up and pushed their ferking chests out and put in a proper shift.

As others have said Len, Squinny and Treacy couldn't be accused of not putting a shift in.

They are indeed, but there are plenty of other football clubs who also have money. Many much more forthcoming with their money than us.

Who would you rather play for? Sheffield United, where one of your mates has spent the last few weeks being personally abused, the club is on a downer and patience is short or another "overperforming" mid table club flirting with the play offs who will pay you as much. The fans are happy, as their expectations are lower and you are offered encouragement rather than scathing personal attacks?

Agree with you on that one, but the thing is, abuse players who have at least tried to put in a shift and given the stereotypical attitude of young pro-footballers, what will they do?

I know if I was Keith Treacy this morning, I'd be questioning if I wanted all the abuse or whether I'd rather return to Blackburn/go on loan elsewhere.

This isn't an excuse for the players, nor blaming the fans for their effect on them merely an observation of the vicious circle we are dangerously close to getting into.

And they werent singled out.

However, they were two of the main players being layed into and abused, being the closest.

At what stage do people fail to be singled out? When they are near another person?

Why is abuse okay, providing you aren't the only one being abused?

Its difficult to see how you could abuse a football team 'surgically', its not like dropping a bomb down a laser beam into an Iraqi chimney you know.

"USLESSBUNCHO'WANKERSWI'NOTABLEEXCEPTIONSINQUINNYANDTREACY!!!"

Doesnt really work does it?

Foxy, if they're that ferking spineless in the first place it's no wonder we are struggling.
Just as the management at the very top of this club has to grow some, it's about time some of our very well paid players did likewise.
And I think you'll find that our wage bill is still among the highest in the league bar the relegated trio.

That wasn't the type of abuse he was getting though was it? it began with a bloke, twice his size and age, pointing a finger in his face shouting obscenities, insulting him and insinuating that he'd put in no effort and didn't care. It then wen't down hill from there.

When I had the audacity to mention that actually, he was one of the few that at least tried something different and tried to change the game in his short time on the pitch.... I was told to "fuck off", as i'm also a "clueless bastard".

Similarly to earlier on, when we were told we weren't proper blades fans and were "wankers" because we wouldn't sing "green army!".

Like I said, I don't disagree with that. I'm saying that if they aren't playing for the manager, aren't playing for each other and don't want to play for the fans that abuse them... Then we aren't about to attract any types likely to quickly fix it.

I really am amazed Foxy that you seem so surprised at the abuse directed at the club, players etc. I know we are in CCC but I cannot recall in last 20 odd years a collection of performances like these recently - (end of Bassett reign springs to mind) and I'm sure there will have been equally bad runs points wise but it's the disharmony etc I'm talking about. The quite justified level of expectation given the still huge wage-bill has made many people snap, me included obviously

I guess you are saying the abuse is counter-productive and I'm sure you are right but it won't stop me or others expressing their displeasure at what we are paying for. Simple answer I suppose is to stop going and then I aint paying for Evans etc anymore.

I'd left before the end and I can't agree with vicious personal abuse obviously and good on Quinn for having a pop back I say. From what I hear, I just think Quinny was unlucky to be closest, it could have been anyone.

But as you say he wasnt singled out. As for the fans who had a go at you, they were twats, weve had them as long as I can recall like every club.

I'm not really surprised, just merely offering my opinion on it. A lot of the points I actually agree with at the moment, it's just the severity and over-reaction to parts of it and the way in which some parts are delivered that I disagree with.

I completely understand the reasons behind the frustration, I share the same frustration myself. I've not returned from Blackpool full of cold and feeling like shit in some form of happy go lucky, all is rosy state.

I just think that the club as a whole, management, fans and players is in serious danger of imploding and a large percentage of it, we are bringing on ourselves.

I know that people expressing their displeasure to players cannot be stopped, I'm merely commenting on the further damage I think it could have and the times where in my opinion it has over stepped the mark (ie - abusing Treacy, having a go back at Morgs etc).

As I said in a previous rant, I'm as fed up as everyone else, but theres far more than just a bad run of form that embarresses me about United at the moment.

What we need is some sort of rallying cry, a little more patience and a run of form similar to what we know they are capable of. What can change that will cause that, i'm not sure.

But as you say he wasnt singled out. As for the fans who had a go at you, they were twats, weve had them as long as I can recall like every club.

What I'm trying to establish, is why it makes a difference, and the abuse somehow better/more deserved because he wasn't the only one being abused? :) I don't understand that point that you are making!

We got a battle cry from McCabe yesterday

"Against Blackpool it will not be easy. The weather forecast is poor, our fans will be in seats open to the elements."

It sends a shiver down me spine and brings tear to me eyes, almost Churchillian......
