If we were to be promoted this season would we stand by Chris Wilder if we were in the bottom three of the premiership in January next year, would we have the faith and confidence to support him to pull us through,or would we ditch him for a newer model, how loyal are we ?

Personally, my view would be keep him but that would also depend on circumstances, if he spent £100m+ and we were shit, there’s an argument to get rid.

Seem to remember seeing the same questions when we were top of League One.

We should obviously keep him in my opinion (look at Dyche for someone who built a team to survive in the prem even after coming down), but there are varieties to that scenario. If we've lost every game 5-0 and look abject having spent a ton then maybe time to reconsider. Have to get there first though.

If Wilder manages to get us promoted with this squad and budget, he deserves 100% loyalty. I'd even stick with him if he brought us straight back down. He's done more than enough to prove he deserves our faith. I'd trust him to have another crack at the whip, and we'd have parachute payments..

We have one of the best and most interesting managers in the country. He also happens to be a born and bread blade. Gets my backing even if we do a Derby.

p.s. still don't believe we will go up

Absolutely and that's the only possible scenario. Wilder would have fucked off long before we were in the shit if we went up and he hadn't been given any money to spend.

Circumstance is nearly always the thing that influences a decision...but, as BushBlade has mentioned, apart from completely losing whatever it was that made us celebrate Wilder, I'd venture we should stay with him. Chris isn't a slow learner, he'll have understood many of the things that contributed to whatever happened to us, be it success (relative) or failure.

CW will be all the wiser for the experience and thus, so would we. This will contribute to a more informed view of how to get us back to the Prem, and it's this type of experience that we'd be looking to benefit from, so stick with the guy, we'll soon realise that there are reasons to stay loyal, plus Wilder will have the parachute funds to dip into should he wish to strengthen the squad. Change for the sake of change makes no sense, at least for me, and as we grow so will Wilder, as will Knill.

personally he should be our manager for as long as we can keep him

He is a great manager who plays football the right way and creates a special atmosphere

he will be a Prem manager sooner or later hopefully with us and if not he will get another team promoted
the football we play along with the passion and efforts the player's show 99.9% of the time is fantastic

if we went up it would be a amazing achievement by him , Knill and the team
we are nearly in Feb and with just over 3 months of the season remaining we have a great chance of promotion
for me we could go up , come straight back down and then start the next season slow and have a 1-2 seasons back in champ before challenging again and he would still have my backing as long as he hasn't changed his philosophy's and turned Clough-esque which i doubt he would ,

it would be so exciting to see us in the Prem under CWAK , even for one season we would see some great games /times
seeing Bash charging forward leaving Pogba in his wake would be stuff of dreams !

An easy way to decide is to ask who better could we have if we were back in the Championship?

We fucked up letting Warnock go, it would be an even bigger fuck up letting Wilder go.

Warnock didn't help himself by banging on about his contract in the run up to the Wigan match.

I don't think anyone envisaged that McCabe would be stupid enough to give Robson the job, there were far better candidates out there, but McCabe wanted a big name.

What if were were 10 points adrift at the foot of the table at Christmas, without a win since October? Say, Allardyce, Ranieri or Benitez were available and expressed an interest? What if Kev wanted to keep CW and Princey wanted to get rid?

Not even worth thinking about unless we go up (although I did just think about it.)

Yes.

If we do go up, let's be serious, we are very likely to be in or close to the bottom 3 halfway through the season. I would have faith in Wilder above almost all others to keep us up. He's one of our own ….UTB

Keep him - Blade For Life (not just for Xmas)

Could see something similar to Wagner at hudds leaving as a hero ?

Keep, mo matter what.

It amazes me that clubs get promoted well beyond anything they deserve (in terms of investment) then blame a manager a few months after he did an astounding job.

It's all a bit hypothetical: IF we get promoted and IF we are bottom of the PL next year.

However CW is building a team and a club. If we get promoted he will have additional funds but I anticipate will not go out and blow all the money and jeopardize the club's long term finances - he's always made that clear. First season target would surely be mid table PL (though you never quite know with CW!) and then move forward with the team building. But if we got relegated we could hopefully keep the team building going with the help of parachute payments, hang onto the good players (who would perhaps be happy to stay for a season in the Championship with a realistic prospect of bouncing straight back) and get straight back up.

We can only dream.
